Nice progress, good to see the detail. Russell Thanks Russell, It's been a lot of work to get it to this point. I was saying the other day, I'd of been better starting with a better base car in hindsight. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I'm having a bit of a mare with the guy I sent the car to, to get the rust sorted. He's had the car for 4 weeks now, and to date has only cut metal off. Not to mention he had a test drive and commented on things I should change, but lets not get into that. Drivers side sill: received_388800022569664 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Not the worst, but not great either. Plan is to rust treat the car as soon as I have it back. Since East Dunbartonshire has been in a state of lockdown for the past couple weeks and I had no car to tinker with, I decided to spruce up the garage a bit (probably should have done this when we moved in). Started by emptying it out of all the quality items (crap) I'd gathered over the last 2 years. IMG_20201006_191946 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Painted the walls in 3 coats of masonry paint, white to try bounce as much light as possible: IMG_20201024_140215 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Sealed the floor with stabilising solution (2 coats) and so far it's had an initial coat of light grey epoxy paint. IMG_20201024_152939 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Another coat on the floor then I can move everything back in, I've bought a cheap workbench for 30 quid, plan is to try get some peg boards up on the walls. It's a decent size garage but a lot of room was getting taken up with poor storage, which was a pain when working on the car. Hopefully I'll get the car back soon, as I've a list of things to be getting on with: - Pull head and get genuine valve stem seals fitted.
- Replace doors.
- pull wings to replace doors (hopefully fit some of Russell's door bars).
- Replace bonnet hinges since wings are off (since one is bent from previous owners bump, bonnet has never sat flat).
- Rust treat all sills etc.
- Fit Speeduino ECU/AEM Wideband.
I'll update more if it ever comes back!

Drivers side sill: I hope that more is being removed not just plated over if it's pitted it's rusted... and I'm not jealous about the clean & tidy workplace Rich.

Looks very nice. Good luck with the floor paint. Thanks, It's ok stuff to work with, it's not going to be able to self level enough to be perfectly flat but it'll do. Just taking a while to dry with the days getting colder. Yeah I've seen his other work, he will replace more, it was just to show me how bad it was. Should get more pictures of the work carried out. It's clean and tidy when empty!

I’ve painted three different garage floors using different products each time, without fail the paint has lifted where the tyres sit. Have just sealed the floor this time, and even that’s failing.

So it may be futile efforts then? oh well, better to find out now after the second coats drying. I'd thought about cheap office flooring tiles, or the plastic tiles you can get. IN all honesty I just wanted rid of the dusty floor.

IN all honesty I just wanted rid of the dusty floor. I've painted a few garage / unit floors with varying results painting over previous paint or dirty / contaminated flooring can cause a lot of swearing... clean / dry concrete gived good adhesion BUT can flake off if you can afford it, either pva the floor a few times to seal then paint OR skim / float with a layer of concrete mixed with pva then paint afterwards OR if you can afford it, level the whole floor with epoxy... I painted my last unit with red floor paint, was over a previous grey coating & it didn't stick properly, I'd hoovered/mopped & tried to get it as clean as possible but there must have been silicone or teflon coating on some areas can see where some has lifted... when I left the unit in the end of Febuary I repainted it, I do wonder if it's still covering or gone patchy Rich.

Well hopefully I've given it as best a chance as I can, 2 coats of sealant and 2 coats of 2 part epoxy paint. If that doesn't work I'll just repaint the tire tracks in a second colour when it needs done. Hoping the rest of it doesn't lift. It's an improvement over the dusty concrete I had before. I think polishing the concrete would have been the best solution, but certainly not the cheapest. Also Zed. that unit must have been massive!

I sometimes think it may be something to do with warm tyres pressing down in the same spot.

Garage looks great! Big improvement there, the white looks fresh........... My Dad painted his garage floor years ago when his old MG was in there, it too started to flake where the tyres sat over time but that took a few years to look patchy, regardless yours looks way better than before!
Fingers crossed you get the car back soon with progress made with the repairs, has he given any idea when it'll be back so you can prepare and have the garage done?

Where you getting the sill job done? Garage looks good man, I did the same this year too. I've created like a dual duty Gym and Workshop so I went for 18mm 6x4 foot rubber mats for flooring so you might want to consider that, firstly from me as its good for gym work and dropping weights on and secondly very easy to clean, also as its insulating you don't get cold scrabbling on the floor in winter under the car... there was that and the fact I just couldn't be doing with getting a concrete and levelling job done just as we went into lockdown and wanted to crack on with things. The mats are pricey mind, but certainly hard wearing. Its a tiny garage, but I managed to get the Subaru in to do the engine, gearbox and diff oil at least so can't complain ,its certainly better than none. The weight plates work nicely on the Roadster to get it up with the wheels on too

Also Zed. that unit must have been massive! 9m x 9m, not big enough! could fit 3 cars side by side across the width and work on them but was realy only good for 1 parked behind the toilet / kitchen block & another car or van worked on with space for tooling. Rich.

I'll be more than happy with a couple years, it's only come about as this guys taking so long. To date I've not heard anymore, will chase him today. Headed for the 5th week! The work looks good on those cars in all fairness but I don't know how long they took to get completed. Garage looks really good, certainly for what you're after rubber mats is the way to go, I hadn't though about the insulating factor. What tiles did you go for? Love the Subaru btw. When I had mine done I left it while I went on holiday as it had both rear quarters done. As long as they are taking their time to do it right thats the main thing. I got the mats from here, they weigh about 30-40kg each so pretty heavy duty stuff: www.arkmat.co.uk/gym-mats.html the gearbox oil stink was easy to clean off and really thats about the worst stuff you can get on it, obviously I wouldn't be leaving the flooring saturated in oil and grime but same would go if I had a concrete/painted surface. Cheers, its a great match to have with the Roadster, just have to keep the engine rebuild fund topped up for when it needs it.. it is a Subaru after all
