I've got a Sparco Sprint on JB Fab mounts, got the seat second hand off eBay and the mounts from GSM.
Had it on standard sliders for a year or so, and whilst that allowed to be moved I found it sat too upright and not much lower than standard.
Recently changed to JB mounts, it was a pain to fit, but it sits a lot lower (steering wheel no longer covers gauges) and with a decent amount of rake, but I've obviously lost the adjustment. I'm only 5'9", and I've got it on the most forward setting, think you can struggle if you're at the other end of the scale as well.

Yeah if you're really short, like I am (5'6"), then you have to run JB mounts backwards.

I'm a bit on the short side too. Something I'll definitely have to bear in mind!
Is the Sparco seat 'comfy' ?! I know that's a really daft question with so many variables but I'd be interested to hear of your opinions.
The Sparco is definitely top of my list.

I'm 6'3" and have a Bride Exas III on JB Fabs. With the cushion taken out I sit nice and low: Had a Sprint before, pretty good for what it is - and not as heavy as you think. I had it on standard rails and it wasn't too bad, biggest problem for me was the hump at the front of the base that pushed my legs up in to the steering wheel. Also zero lumbar support.

I'd about 10,000 miles in three years on sprint and found it super comfortable. 3 days of solid driving round Wales and it was lovely. It'll be going into the Mini shortly.

Sounds like it's at least worth me finding one to try

I'm a 32" waist and the Sprints nice in that regard, always feels to narrow on my shoulders though. Keep meaning to go to GSM and try out a different seat and see if I can find something comfier.
TSP, you can probably find a good deal on a second hand one on eBay or Facebook, won't lose any value if you decide you don't like it either.

That'd make sense mate... Any ideas what it'll be yet?
The quest for a s/h Sparco begins. As Ptichka has said. Not much to lose then

Should be loads of Sprints about. Let me know if you want the drivers rails ready drilled, it really should be low enough on those. The Jass adaptors will raise it slightly, the JB Fabs will get you the lowest.

Paging V6
Only concern I have with 'short' / 'classic' seats is complete lack of neck support in an accident, and if there's a roll cage in place, the potential for literally cracking your skull open on it like a runny boiled egg in an accident...
For me, only seat I want is a Racetech RT1000: racetecheurope.co.uk/shop/seats/club/RT1000-motorsport-seats
Only one I've seen with actual proper lower back support and a back panel that is shaped to anywhere near approaching the shape of a spine: racetecheurope.co.uk/shop/image/cache/data/seats/RT1000-116r(sml)-800x800.jpg
All these seats with just a flat bit of board for the back section must surely Canoe up your back due to lack of support!
One issue with the RT1000 is that the wings are too wide to fit without removing the door cards and potentially 'modifying' the door - either that or chopping the wings off the shoulder area. I'm thinking of doing the latter if I can get some cash together.

Recaro SR7s fit but they are sports seats. And they don't play well with your typical legged rollbar.
