Not impressed with the stainless hose clips sent with the kit. Took it for a proper run today and found a worrying puddle under the car after leaving it standing for a few mins, popped into Halfords and picked up some tools to re-tighten the clips. Cured the worst but one failed so limped home and replaced with one of the old clips. What I don't get is why companies don't charge a few quid more and supply better quality fasteners, especially on parts like hoses, gone unchecked it could cost you a cylinder head.

Jubilee clips, even the quality ones, need to be nipped up a hundred miles or so after fitting silicone hoses as they settle. Quite normal with silicone hoses. Clips breaking though... try mikalor. Constantly replacing those buggers.

the "two wire bands" style clips are actually a better design than jubilees, IMO.

Although I might try the Ines DaveFab use, not tried them...

I can't understand why people are having so many issues with clips.
Nothing wrong with Mikalor. There oem fitment throughout many industries.
I've always gone with genuine Jubilee or JCS HiGrips and money allowing on the job stainless.
I do not tend to reuse clips as they start to bind up if over tightened and so getting a decent clamp on old hardened hoses can be problematic.
I always use a 1/4 drive 7mm or 8mm socket to tighten them, or a proper Jubilee bendy driver. This insures there tight from the outset.
I've worked on big plant, commercial and marine diesels with 18 years as a MTU and Detroit Diesel factory trained diesel mechanic. I know my spanners. If its fitted clean, correctly tighten and designed for use, it won't leak.
That said, crappie Chinese clips won't tighten enough to clamp properly.
Wire clamp mentioned above damage hoses by placing a lot of load on a very small area. Think of a cheese wire.
Those crappie factory fitted devil clips that relies on spring pressure weaken over time with rust and ageing the same as any spring does. So there crap too.
Can only think if there is a problem with leaking silicone hose kits it's the poor quality low production low R&R hoses that are to blame, or possibly something to do with the fitment and not the high quality, mass production, quality controlled, time proven, used across the thousands of oems and industries everywhere every day clips.
I hope my little rant helps guide people in the right direction.

Apologies if my comments seem over the top. I've had issues with people at work and hose clips of late so this post touched a nerve๐

No nerves touched! As Atlex said, zip ties did a better job than Mikalor... no breakages! I don't know if I'm overtightening them or what but I've never had an issue with Jubilees (apart from having to nip them up after a hundred miles when brand new) on either boost or water pipes. Hope things improve at work for you, although if you're having issues with hose clips I doubt I can help ๐

I've had issues with people at work and hose clips of late so this post touched a nerve๐ Noooo, 11 sentences on hose clips is certainly not over the top Just kidding, the only bad experience I ever had was from a well known 5 mech person fitting mine at an angle on my IC pipes which led to it slicing the top off my very rare PWR twin cooler. Had to find a good Alu welder after.

But they do different clips, and some of there higher end stuff is very good. The standard stuff is uses a folded screw housing which fails easily If over tightened or reusable multiple times. I should probably get out more๐๐

I love the look and width of mikalors but somehow I've seen quite a few fail in the same place, welds. Maybe we're buying cheap knockoffs ? etc...
