Very nice car and good to see another modified Mk 2.5 ! Couple of questions: 1. How do you find your angel eye headlights on low beam compared to the standard ones ? I've been thinking about these but wanted feedback from someone who has them. 2. Maybe I missed it somewhere in your build summary (above) however how did you get from c. 184 rwhp (dyno plot 1) to c. 229 rwhp (dyno plot 2) ? 1. On low beam there's no real difference that I've noticed but full beam is insane, I would buy them again 2. From 184 to 229 was the cheapest but largest power gain I've had, you basically buy a MAC boost solenoid (around £50 on eBay) and get it retuned, think all in you'll spend around £150 for 45 more horses and the increase really is noticeable!

Wow ! Wish I could give my supercharger setup an extra 45 bhp by fitting a solenoid !
Has Nick (Skuzzle) given you any idea how close your getting to the 1.8 S-VT conrod bending zone ? I recently got the lowdown on this, which wasn't the best news I've had. Although I'm on 180-190 rwbhp, so probably a bit more in the safe zone at present. Although thinking about a forged engine for the medium term ......

Engine out today and taken apart, 2 bend rods!

And the not so pretty pictures Before any unnecessary bitching starts, the manifold is being replaced for a better part free of charge under warranty. Also the radiator may have a leak... And it looks like 2 bend rods, pictures of them tomorrow!

Oh boy.... between the 2 of you rich5660 & Convertible Convert you've set a high bar! I've a draft email half composed to Skuzzle before reading this but by the sounds of it they need a break I am beginning to wonder though - would I be better off gathering up the parts and getting my conversion done locally. I've a local tuning firm that are highly respected (we're talking 1000+ bhp GTR's as their speciality). The number of niggles that seem to crop up in settling in a turbo conversion may make it better for me to use them.

Although the strange thing is I know another guy who's been running about the same BHP with an MPP 62 conversion with no problems so far (and a couple of others with around my rwbhp on Mk 2.5s, thankfully with no problems over several years).

Popped in to borrow a drill from Ron on Saturday, that's such a nice job he's done.

I was over at Skuzzle yesterday but forgot to ask how your engine rebuild is going. Any news ?

as far as I know the head is in unit 2 on the table (looking shiny!) the rest of the main engine is on the floor, the pistons are somewhere else (but also looking shiny!).
Aiming to get down there at some point during this week to see if any progress has been made, all the parts are there now its just a case of putting it all back together again
