As the engine is out I thought I'd give the engine bay a quick clean. Picture of before I began below but phone died before I could get an after photo. Very clean though OCD complete for the weekend

So got the car back after some time at Skuzzle... The bad news, clutch has started slipping. More on that at the end. Work carried out in no particular order; Stack oil temp and boost gauges plumbed in and fitted Dash out, flocked, and back in. Just needs a quick clean Sump drilled and oil return pipe fitted (rather than back through the dipstick) Finally fixed the washer bottle. Haven't tried it yet Removed the standard seat belts. Harnesses are road legal Engine out Engine stripped Head refacing, valve reseating and guide replacements Fixed the Canoeing aerial Seats repaired CF Hardtop spoiler fitted, then removed, now for sale Tyres taken off a second set of wheels, they're now being refurbed Piston ring set Bottom end gasket set New head gasket Vvt orings Exhaust/inlet/cam cover gaskets Washers etc Inlet cam oil seal Exhaust cam oil seal ZRP forged rods Timing belt kit Water pump Billet seat adjusters (awesome!) ME221 ECU Engine rebuilt and chucked back in. Believe it then made ~175 at the wheels on wastegate and then 225 on boost. Couldn't carry on as the clutch started slipping but it's now making roughly the same power with less psi. All in all very happy with it, took a while to get it back but wasn't an issue. Next on the shopping list is a massive Borg 7670 turbo, twin scroll with wastegate www.turbodynamics.co.uk/shop/179351-genuine-borg-warner-efr-turbo-p-4896.htmlThen full 3" exhaust and custom manifold from blackcat and the stage 2 clutch from flyin Miata. Fingers crossed for 300bhp at the wheels Massive grins now, more massive grins to come

had a very harsh MOT inspection;
Test date: 28 June 2016 Test Result: Fail Odometer reading: 75,347 miles Reason(s) for failure: Anti-lock braking system warning lamp indicates an ABS fault (3.4.1c) - understand this would be a fail, when putting the car back together the offside rear ABS sensor wasn't plugged in, as soon as it was the ABS light went straight off offside rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.6a) - gave a reading under what he deemed safe, 2 minutes to adjust offside Headlamp aim too low and too far to the left. (1.8) - MOT tester said he would adjust this when I came back for a retest rather than just doing it on the spot..? nearside Headlamp aim too low and too far to the right. (1.8) same as above, why fail me on 2 points when he could just adjust and fix the issue, he's allowed to adjust the headlights! Parking brake lever has no reserve travel (3.1.6b) - same thing as "offside rear parking brake recording little or no effort" above Brake pipe inadequately clipped ALONG OFFSIDE (3.6.B.1) - the clip on the brake line had come off, he couldn't just clip it back on and would allow me to (literally just a clip on the rails..) you can see how this is going! nearside rear Tyre fouling a part of the vehicle FOULING ON BRAKE HOSE (4.1.D.2) - this one I agreed with, hose was rubbing against the tyre, 30 second fix offside Rear fog lamp not working (1.3.2b) - when we put the dash back together the fog light went back in the wrong slot, 2 minutes to move back to correct place, now works Rear fog lamp switch faulty (1.3.1a) - same as above Rear fog lamp tell tale not working (1.3.1b) - and again
Advisory notice item(s): two of six bolts holding in front sub-frame loose - he went round and checked every bolt with a torque wrench, found two that weren't to his standards so, an advisory, bolts now tightened up! horn starting to sound slightly rough - I did contest this; a horn either works or it doesn't, a pass or a fail...
its nice that he did a thorough job but a bit OTT for my liking! would be good to know the thoughts of others

So decat back in after a successful MOT. Few rusty patches; bonnet pins and rear tow hook which have now been treated and gave it a clean before tomorrow's trip to the alignment center.
Off to buy a new set of hardtop catches as one rattles and a new pair of washer jets as one is Canoeed

Also gave the clutch a little adjustment, hopefully that sorts the slippages. Ordered 6 fan type washer jets, only needed one so lots of spares! Oh and got the alignment done last weekend too

That dash is sex I really want to get mine done but it looks a mission to get it all out lol Has the mirror made a difference, do you find? To me, the standard one is a bit small and also 'ghosts' really badly, where you can see what the 'dipped mirror' is reflecting at the same time as the same mirror, if that make sense?

The dash is surprisingly easy to get out to be honest, think it's about 9 bolts in total, sure there will be a YouTube video on how to do it; if not then give me a shout when you want to do it and I'll write a guide for you. New mirror is awesome, I did think it'd be too big but it's perfect size; I know exactly what you mean, I got the blue tinted lens version so it dulls the lights behind at night

Supercharged guys Rent getting the torque shock of a turbo setup Rent..? Despite Nick's lean and lithe frame, I reckon it's Fat Finger Syndrome at work - Shift or Caps Lock are just next to the 'a' button, so I think it should really have been "aren't" lol
