Another vote for CL Brakes here. Have been using them on my NBFL (sport brakes) sprint/hill climb car last season (& a few track days too). Have not experienced fade. Had to replace the master cylinder tho as it wore out.

I found the mk1 1.8 brakes with decent pads more than adequate on my supercharged 5. A lot of racers use 1.6 brakes and they are pushing their cars much harder than I ever could!

the 280mm rotor / wilwood dynalites they fit under all the 15" wheels I have tried, spacing to clear spokes dependant.
they fit straight under ce28ns 15x7 and need about 16mm (20mm for safety) spacing under the GEN3 6UL 15x8s

Thanks. It’s for a mate of mine that has Willwoods & just bought a set of 15” ProRace 1.2s.
I went for a drive in it yesterday & wasn’t hugely impressed/didn’t think they were anywhere near as good as mine. BUT he’s got EBC yellow stuff pads all round which I don’t rate at all.

I was looking at the Wilwood kits as well. Although I found a few people complaining they hated the lack of feel. I also looked at various OTT six pot options that are available in USA, mainly for their lardy V8 conversions. The additional mass isn't small! So I decided against all that extra unsprung mass. Especially as my engine swap will only be adding 10kg. I didn't want to start adding tons more. In the end I went for I.L Motorsport 4 pot callipers in the UK which were specifically designed for the MX5. No extra mass, no conversion brackets required, no fitment or clearance issues. Stunniing build as well. I also swapped my Roddison pads for Hawk DTC-60 race pads and job jobbed. I already had upgraded slotted EBC discs and braided lines. Recommended! Aside from a bit of brake dust, no real world downsides. Rear callipers were left as OEM but cleaned and painted with Simoniz VHT matt black paint. They look mint as well now.

Update - had a bit more time to bed the brakes in and get used to them.
They are certainly an order of magnitude superior to OEM calipers and Roddison pads. Massive amounts more feel and sheer g force stopping power. At the same time FAR less likely to lock up (old set were a bit on off in comparison). The Roddisons were a step up from OEM in feel. But this is a huge leap on again. If you drive remotely fast just buy some.

I was just chatting about these. On a test earlier today I braked pretty late and hard and they took it in their stride. Approaching a roundabout at 100, brake at second marker, slammed to walking pace in no time. Zero hint of lock up. Felt like tons more in reserve too. Not even cadence braking either. If I applied half that force on my last set it would have just locked up into a useless skid (I don't have ABS). No doubt on track and with more time to master it, these will be properly useful. I wouldn't worry about the race label of the pads. The better feel of the callipers make them pussy cats.

V6, I'm about to purchase rodders pads, how do you rate them in 18 brake size? Currently got mintex 1144, can't fault them other than dusty, but looking for a change.
