Please! I was set on fitting a set of GSX-R750 ITBs to my 1600 NA right up until I started doing some research and asking some questions. Now I’m not sure. Sometimes you really should just say Canoe it and just go for it! My conundrum revolves around a comment I read on ‘another’ forum which incidentally seems quite pro boost The comment went something like ‘fitting ITBs to a standard NA engine will achieve more noise and not much else’ This started me thinking. The money I’d spend on the fitting kit, filter etc for the throttle bodies would be more expensive than a pair of Skuzzle cams and a head skim which I’m sure will give some positive gains? Either way I’d need to run management so that doesn’t really come in to it. I could delete the afm too I guess. I am thinking I’d be better off fitting the ITBs at a later date? Once the cams etc are done where they may actually be of some benefit too. Between now and then I could try some ITBs that are more suited to the car and spec too. Help me make my mind up! Please

ITBs increase, shall we say, presence. And unleash jinbae-ittae in your car..
You should probably do cams first, it's true, to really get the most out of them.
But nobody regrets going ITB.
Bike ITBs are still very good. If you have them already...

Crisper throttle response, but without cams, porting, and a good aftermarket Ecu you won’t make much more power. Will sound great tho’ , and you will have a holy glow when you lift your bonnet, unlike we mere mortals with FI setups.

A micro switch on the bonnet could activate the stereo and play some resounding organ music too....

This is essentially the problem. You buggers aren’t helping! Thank you for your input everyone. Skuzzle or Blink would be another question.

I had exactly this setup on my previous Mk1 1600. Didn’t produce the power of even the most basic turbo/Supercharged kit.
The noise was epic & the throttle response was instant.
Any excuse to show this....

My 1600 had the following spec... Jenvey 42mm ITBs 90mm trumpets MSPNP Blink stage 1 cams 45tho' skim Fujitsubo 4:1 - RB power pulse and did this: (that's about 150-55fwhp @6000rpm and more than stock power by 4000rpm) Sure boost can give you #allofit BUT it's not cheap to do it right and end up with a well sorted setup that's track reliable... I guess it depends what you want. I think NASP power with ITBs is a riot but a well sorted turbo (like Apectwins) is fugging quick...

Any excuse to show this.... I make that about a 54/55s run... bit quicker than my best effort so far (it looks it too tbh - insert racing driver excuse... I did prarrie canoe myself up spinning in the esses earlier that day ;P )

53.95 but have been up there a few times, but this was my first timed run in this car. Yeah, you’re right, need to attack the S’s & semicircle. Sorry for going O/T tsp!

Yep, same as you’re thinking of- GSXR ITBs on a bogg bros manifold, MS2, 4.7 diff, HSDs, CL pads, 1.8 brakes.

I’ve got GSXR ITBs, an ME221, and on home brew manifold and exhaust, (no cams-Skuzzle took out the exhintake cam as it wasn’t working for the engine) and I’m on 145 flywheel hp on a 1.8. A good tune on a good ecu could probably get close to that on a stock engine though? I’m now on an FGK manifold and MX5 parts/custom exhaust and it butt dyno says a smidge more power. We’ll find out in Feb.
