so. this was delivered.... had to try it on an engine for scientific purposes! fits the Vauxhall mount. plenty of clearance around the rear and the coolant 'bypass' hose will not interfere, also the terminals are situated away from anything that might cause issues like oil & fuel hoses... on another track, had an email from Jenvey suggesting another 3 weeks for the manifold - suppose its a good thig I'm not in a rush Rich.

what have I done? Nothing to the 5 as have been bust working I have spent some of my hard-earned on a new Battle-bowler (Stilo crash helmet) & a welding headshield though... 3m's Speedglas G5-02 as it says! it's got bluetooth in bits? also has the newer electronics so 3m's 'Natural Colour Technology' the lens is curved for a narrower headshield (always usefull in tight spaces). ald it's a suprising step up from my previous Speedglas 9100FX headshield / 9100xx filter lens (& they are very good!) and compared to the ESAB headshield that work supplied it's amazing would I buy another? not at the full price but then I paid ` half price as a secondhand unit... now I've one less excuse for my welds on the car Rich.

I’m not going to say that you have a nice helmet in case it is misunderstood. You know what people are like 😀

so, had an email yesterday from Jenvey saying the manifold had been shipped & today recieved a box... whats in the box? another box! (and a jiffibag) containing the manifold, a pair of tps wiring plugs, a pair of coolant-port blankig-plugs (1 ordered and one supplied with the manifold?) but no coolant-pipe manifold - to follow.... down the throat.... head face... later I will test-fit on the car / Vx head to assess fittment... Rich.

the 'old' manifold I had was made for carburettors so positioned the tb's horizontally, this caused fitment problems with the underbonnet layout I've planned... the 'side' view. the 'new' manifold from Jenvey is designed for the 'DCOE' type throttlebodies but with a 'port-angle' inclination. straight inlet tract, view down the port to cylinder.... with the 42mm tb's fitted it looks similar to the previous setup. little different from here.... somewhat different now. ~240mm from manifold-face to outside world & ~100mm more to the centre of the cylinder chamber / sparkplug. view down the ' ole' I'm considering replacing the 42mm tb's with 45 or 48mm items and the longer versions while I'm at it (118mm vs. 95mm that I have.) more thoughts, fiddlin & maybe action to follow shortly (hopefully ) Rich.

I can certainly see the logic in moving/deleting the brake booster now, those are some serious honks. Are we aiming towards getting this thing running or is it more of a modern art peice at the moment? I'm trying to think of something profound to say about the dissonance between the polished carbon trumpets and rusty cam wheels but I'm not that intellectual .

I'm trying to think of something profound to say about the dissonance between the polished carbon trumpets and rusty cam wheels but I'm not that intellectual . ditching the standard booster / servo & mastercylinder setup was based around adjustability of front / rear brake effort (bias) not for throttlebodies as they were a later decision, definately opens the enginebay though also, you think that 'empty' cylinderhead / pulleys are rusty.... the engine I'm going to use (& strip / refresh) has been standing for ~15 years mighty5s.com/post/47940/threadalthough the pulleys are aluminium so not rusty as such Roch.

sidetracked........ again mot on van needed so buisy on that (bloody vw's) - needed a battery for the Asshat (Passat) so bought a Odyssey PC1200T but that didn't fit nicely so swapped that with the Optime redtop from the van, can now decide if optima or Odyssey are better also, tripped over a tool I've wanted for ages.... a Dunlop camber / caster gauge. I already have a Dunlop optical tracking gauge so now have lost my reliance on borrowing a friends laser tracking kit back to the 5, bought a Jenvey throttle linkage, not cheap but simple & effective still debating on 45 or 48mm throttlebodies OR do I keep the 42mm Jenvy's I already have (as they'll produce enough power to cause trouble ) Rich.
