Well, mainly I think I need the micrometer due to this www.miata.net/garage/diff_rr.htmlI've never rebuilt a differential, so it'll be a first for me. I've bought it directly. A bit before I figure that I will have the time to put it in, but brexit kind of pushed me to pull the trigger on it. that diff in the link has had a beating the dimensions are a good 'cheat' to set the side-bearing preloads, uses mazda factory details? I usually just use the 'Force' (feel) or if possible - a spring-ballance mostly I use the 'Force' anyway.... when turning the side-bearing adjusters, the link above suggests a pinpunch, I prefer to either make a tool (if it's a regular job like the Ford 'english' diff) or use a pre-made tool like an angle-grinder disk 'key' or sometimes a 90* circlip-pliers can work it's worth stripping the lsd before pressing new bearings on the stubs (try to get the inner bearings on the correct way, it's something I've seen done!) and when fitting the crownwheel (Ringgear) to the lsd get some longer bolts, cut their heads off & screw into the gear - the 'ends' align with the boltholes in the lsd making fitment easier as the gear & lsd have an 'interfearance-fit' if you understand my rantings Rich.

I don't think I'll have much luck with the force doing it for the first time. Thanks for the tips though, I'll sure need them come winter (or exploded diff)

Slowly but surely the garage is getting better. I put together some shelving for it and I'm quite happy with how it looks. The floor and walls will be painted when I get the time. I need to build benches and a welding table after that

Getting the aero back on and trying on the meaty wheels. I need to go to track soon. And I may have to roll the fenders.

Crazy power! Can't imagine how brutal that must feel in a five. Love your car jacks too

Haha, well... I'm not sure. I think I measured it to 237mm when I got the tires, but thats just from memory now. And measured off wheel.

Drove it a bit today.
170 kilometers single way to get to a fun little auto-x. My oil pressure sensor seems to have disconnected and I struggle with the interpolation of the different fuels (flex), but I'll get there.
Even though the car was running rich and only medium power since I had a e60 mix in the tank, I won the auto-x. The ar-1's did great, both auto-x and on smallish roads on the way home. There was 2s between hot and cold tires today, more than I expected.
I look forward to getting this to a proper track again.

Those that know me know that cosmetics is a non prioritized field for my mx5. Almost everything I've ever done to it is in order for it to go faster, be more reliable etc. So today I did something else. If you don't know me you'd think I'm a tosser. If you do know me you'll get the humor. Anyway, I am very F&F now šš I'm still laughing a bit. Best of all, its all controlled by pushing the "cruise main" button. (The car hasn't got cruise control anymore, but it can turn on the cruise mode now š )

Was out finishing boost control mapping. Uphill, with no intention to shift as fast as I can, with wheelspin in first (the 245's actually grip most times in second) the car does 0-100kph in 4.4s. I pass 100kph in 3rd. I should be able to get it to 4s flat under good circumstances. Oh, and closed loop boost control is spot on once again.

Interesting.... so 245s won't fit with stock arches, counter to what people on FB seem to say.
