Which championship are you doing? I’m thinking of dipping my toe in B19. I'm in Sevenoaks Speed League, and the AEMC/ASEMC Sprint Champ. My club is Sevenoaks so I get to enter that free, the other one is £10 to enter. |

Borough 19 have a few events open to entries now: borough19.alphatiming.co.uk/register/eventsI've entered the Lydden Hill sprint on 17 July, and Hethel on 8 August. Was tempted by Snetterton on 26/27 June but don't want to push my luck with SWMBO! Plus I might do the MCC Summer Trial that weekend anyway... |

First event finally coming up this Sunday, at Hethel (Lotus test track), must try not to get too excited and bin it at the first corner...anyone been to Hethel before?

Had a brilliant time at Hethel yesterday. The track is really good fun, lovely grippy smooth tarmac and the course was well set up with some fairly long straights (for a sprint), a couple of long hairpins and some lovely esses.  We had one practice run and then four (yes 4!) timed runs. I got quicker almost every run, though so did the only other competitor in my class in his Lotus Cortina, and I ended up 2nd by a couple of seconds – but it was a good battle. Weather was cold but dry all day and apart from a few breaks to collect breakdowns and one fairly wrecked S2000, it went very smoothly. Even the run home was pretty quick and uneventful, and I was home in time for tea  Next event is Debden on 9 May. |

Used to do a 2 lapper a few years ago. The Lotus boys used to get a bit pissed off with being beaten by a TVR.😂

Came 2nd in class on scratch & close 4th on points at Aintree. Beat S2000s, V8 Morgan’s but was beaten by a 460 hp Exige Cup. Pleased as it was my 1st visit to the track, with new suspension & on course the turbo giving me more power with masses of torque.

I had fun at the Plymouth Motor Club Werrington Hillclimb.
There were a few Mazdas in a couple of classes.
I was up against a very quick 300 + Bhp Mk1 stripped out with full cage. He was doing 41.7 second runs to my best at 52.4.
This is one of my runs trying not to spin the wheels off the very dusty start line so it was a 2500 rpm launch then rolled onto to loud pedal once I got moving.

Looks quite calm, but there are plenty of hard looking obstacles trackside! 11 seconds difference in that short a run is crazy to be in the same class. |

I have spent six years building the car up from an imported rust free shell, so I am pushing myself a bit but not taking risks. Going through the cattle grid at 70 mph over a blind brow towards the left hairpin with a 10 ft stone wall in front tends to concentrate the mind. the single seaters hit 100 mph over the cattle grid.

I'll be at Debden (old Essex airfield) tomorrow, should be a lot more pleasant than the drizzly cold day in October when I was last there!
