If you wanted to make a boring 80s car more modern and boring, you could do this: It's cool that Nissan bothered to commemorate it for the anniversary, even if it is a little sedate haha.

So, I had some decisions to make. Looking at finances, plans for the 5, and really a desire for a daily that is a bit more of a daily and a bit less of a 22mpg 35 year old saloon I have decided to sell the Bluebird. But of course in classic me style some form of shenanigans had to take place after I planned this. I put it up for frankly more than I expect to get for it, but given the incredibly clean chassis it hasn't been scoffed at by people commenting on the ad. But yeah anyway, I put it up for sale, got an offer on Ebay that was below what I wanted, but I thought meeting half way would be reasonable. So before I countered I went out to start the car as it had been sat for a few days, just wanted to give it a quick run and keep it happy. Got out to the now for sale car. Key turned easier than usual in the lock, I thought nothing of it, and got in the car. Noticed the center ashtray was pulled out, and the center console was popped open. Instantly knew the reason the door lock felt so easy is because it was already unlocked. Someone had got the car unlocked, so I had a quick look over in the back, my full tool kit, spare carb, Haynes manual, all still there, nothing taken. Weird. Went to start it. Key wouldn't turn. Steering lock stuck on. Knew straight away the knobhead had been at the ignition barrel, though weirdly no sign of physical damage whatsoever. Saw a couple of fresh hand prints on the bootlid and rear glass, so I think they went to push it, steering lock engaged, and they just left it. Anyway I got annoyed with it and called it a night. Took the cowl apart yesterday, got the sheer bolts off of the steering lock, and removed the barrel from the car. Steering lock functions perfectly fine, so they hadn't forced that and jammed it. I believe they may have stuck a random key or small screwdriver into the barrel, as after messing with it for a bit I realised it was the little key release button Nissan love to use that was causing the issue. It was bent slightly and preventing the key from turning. With a little persuasion I managed to get it working again and all back in the car, and it started first turn of the key, mint. Bit pissed off about the whole thing really, it has no alarm, no immobiliser, once you're in the door anyone half competent could probably have been away with it in no time. Instead I got the Prince Andrew of car thieves, sat there sweating profusely while also failing miserably at doing anything right. I'm almost more annoyed that I was left with the barrel to fix to be honest, just the sheer incompetence, how embarrassing. Anywho, it's all back together and like it never even happened, so the ad is back up, and getting a bit of interest. If anyone is interested the full ad is here: ebay.us/dxlDuG?cmpnId=5338273189Looking at a nice simple daily again, thought about a Micra but wouldn't mind something just mildly more warm hatch, so I've been looking at Gen1 Yaris T-Sports. Nice little cars by all accounts, might have to pick one up. Sad the Bluebird never quite became the cool retro Japanese style car I wanted, but the 5 needs that 4.7 diff building, and some cams, and a few other bits and pieces, and sadly 2 projects just isn't realistic for me right now tbh.

Thought I'd seen it up for sale ... was tempted I have to admit although I have no idea what I'd do with it 🤣
Glad you've got it sorted, horrible feeling when you know someone's been messing with your stuff!

Being able to focus on 1 is such a better option for me right now tbh. If I had the space I'd probably have more random stuff, but just want to get the 5 a few upgrades, done most of the hard work now, just needs a few finishing touches.

Russell Haha, well if you're interested let me know. I've had a fair bit of interest, but been in Covid isolation for over a week now, so haven't been able to do any viewings. Yeah it was a bit crap, I'm just glad it wasn't the 5, and now I definitely won't be parking the 5 out in view of the main road ever again, if someone touched that it'd be a different story.
