Just completely wore out a set of EBCs at Cadwell last weekend (approx 150 miles) . Had a disaster trying to get my favourite Ferodo DS2500s to fit, now trying Carbon Lorraine pads PART NUMBER 4135 RC5+ compound. The guy there was extremely helpful in trawling through the catalogue to find the right fitment. Some one as hard on brakes as me, Yellows didn't last a trackday, they were bad but need to be made of more than cheese

You guys know we sell brakes don't you? Discs, pads, hoses, big brake kits etc. We can get pretty much any make and compound of pad you like as well, usually cheaper than going direct 😄

So, Carbon Lorraine RC5+ pads:
In a word- EXCELLENT!
The pads bedded in quickly, developing a nice pedal feel after only a few miles. Very easy to moderate braking. When you want it to the car will really stop very hard. Very impressed!
Ok, they're not the cheapest but they work really really well.

Excellent stuff, thanks for coming back to review them! I might see if I can find a set for the missus' car as her standard pads are low and pretty pants... I think CL make the brakes for the channel tunnel and/or the TGV trains, so they must know their stuff!

Ping me a message with the details of the car and I'll see what I can sort for you.

Am I missing a joke? Entirely possible, it's been a long week... Anyway, here's my sensible answer... Not any more noisy than any other trackday friendly pad. Pretty savage bedding in procedure and after that they have impressive stopping power and very fade resistant. Bit dusty but that's not a problem if you a) never wash your car or b) wash your car regularly.

Have you seen Deliverance? lol
Thanks for the feedback on them, though, that's useful
I have just driven around normally on my Hawk HP+ and they still seem ridiculously grippy while being quiet - I'm not sure how much better they could get!

The only thing I can think would be better is a ships anchor.

Is choice of disc less fundamental then? I just have bog standard Mintex discs and pads and I'm considering an upgrade to m1144, just wondering whether the standard discs are worth upgrading too? That, and I need to bleed my brakes again...

Yes. The pad is more important. The standard disc is well up to the job of dissipating the heat generated from the friction applied to it.
The pads you are going to are a good quality pad Mintx 1144. I favour the Ferodo DS over that pad but it's personal choice. The best pad I have found for my standard power 1.8 engine powered MX-5 is what I use now. Paul Roddisons Track/street pad. No squeal at all. Works from cold. Does not fade on track. Good feel. And terrific bite if stood on.
I also use with that pad. A master cylinder brace. And good quality new fluid. Before each track day I just bleed out an egg cup full from each calliper and do a total fluid change once a year.
Regards. Rich.

We can do EBC discs and pads for a decent price as well as Mtec and Ferodo. Drop me a message if you want a price sorting. Usually a bit cheaper even after any discount you can get.
