Yeah - that's what I figured. WIll order a new cap to be on the safe side.
Just got to sort the idle droop when pulling up at junctions and it's all sorted (keeps dropping so low when pulling up to a standstill that it stalls, despite 'normal' stationary idle being steady at 1000rpm). Drives much nicer than it has done in years apart from that.

Just had a sudden thought and wandered outside to check.
Note to self. Next time you put your car back together remember to plug ALL the electrical connections back together.
Had left the fan unplugged. Idiot.
Will go out for a run and check but something tells me thats why it overheated after a hard run whilst standing still!

After an interestiing week, lots of online advice, head scratching, fiddling about with the tune and crossing fingers, it now starts, idles, runs without boiling its coolant away and doesn't stall at junctions. Still needs lots of road tuning but I'm back in the game at last! Yeah! However, I'm not a fan of my new Cobalt exhaust at the moment. Sounds VERY farty and raspy under acceleration but I'm hoping it will settle down with some mileage and coking up . . .

FFS. Drove over a block of stone left in the middle of the road the other day but it didn't smash my GV spoiler so thought it had left my car unscathed. It seems that this was not the case as its pummelled the mid pipe silencer on my brand new exhaust. Canoe Spheres.
As for the farty sound. . . It helps if when you fit a new Cobalt exhaust you also fit a sensor or a sensor bung in the hole in the top of it!
Feel like a bit of an idiot.

Can't help but love my car though. My kids can't help asking me what I would do a straight swap for if I was offered (Wavered on E-type). It's part of me though. Which is pretty stupid when I say it out loud but it's taught me a lot (re-ignited my hidden creative side, mechanical skills, perseverance, a whole new lexicon of swear words. . . ), introduced me to some great people (I hope to see some of you soon), and reminded me of how much fun even the simplest cheapest cars can be (especially when they so purely distill the thrill of driving).

I've been inspired (ahem) to get my gauges sorted out, is that revlimiter's warbirds flavour ?

It is indeed. He put my Ronin logo in the tacho for me too :-)
Adam (Revlimeter) would always be my first choice for gauge faces. Excellent quality product, great designs and he's a great guy as well.

I have a civilised sounding car again, having now fitted a lamda sensor bung to my exhaust.
Still pissed about the badly dented mid-pipe silencer but having given it closer inspection, when crawling under the car to fit the bung, at least I've confirmed it's not holed.

Well the drive home in the sunshine tonight has made me fall for my car all over again. Now the exhaust is silenced I can hear the whine of the supercharger and from 3500rpm the thrust is addictive. Will have to wait a while for bigger injectors and intercooler but will be having lots of fun in the meantime :-)
I may have a wheel bearing going though. . .

Finally got round to spraying my door today. Crap effort (ran out of paint) but its better than the yellow high build primer its had on it for 9 months). Finally fitted my custom tail badge tonight as well :-)

Just done the annual "fix everything that's not working in 1 hr of panic before the M.o.T."
Replaced the windscreen washer motor in Halfords carpark 10 mins ago and now sitting in the testing station waiting for Ronin to fail on something else!
I always breathe a sigh of relief when I hear the horn sound! Lol

Whoop whoop - passed. The testing guy was nice enough to fit my Powerflex Poly exhaust hangers (that arrived from Mx5 Parts) for free as well That's saved me from having to crawl around under the beast again this afternoon.
