We move slower, because of the weight of all the wisdom we carry, oh, and modesty.

Oi - who you calling fat? Actually the other half went through the wardrobe today and threw out all the 36" waist trousers and medium size upper garments that we both know I won't ever fit into again.
And to get the thread back on track, before I head off the the owners club and start browsing for chrome adornments, we were back at Kemble today for the Devizes Autosolo.
I did my best to stop my right foot :-
1. mashing the brake pedal way before I needed to, and
2. to keep the throttle pinned for longer before 1 takes over, sometimes after way too long spent between neither pedal Sad to report the brain vs Foot contest did not go well although I did manage to find the odd second here and there. The struggle resumes next week at Wroughton.

Wrestling with exhaust bolts last night to try to get the manifold off, not fun. I undid the centre pipe to downpipe OK, but there's a clamp around the downpipe and I can't get the blimmin thing undone. Maybe I can get the bracket attaching the clamp to the bellhousing off instead?
Otherwise it'll be hacksaw time...

A bit more progress last night - got under the car and tried to take the bracket off the bellhousing. One bolt came undone fine, the other was blocked by the end of the bolt that I couldn't get undone on Monday. So I hacksawed the end off, then could undo the bellhousing bolt holding the bracket on, and waggled the exhaust out through the engine bay. Turns out someone had welded the nut onto the bracket as in the pic above, so the nut was never going to turn, and the bolt head was rounded off. Glad I didn't waste more time trying! Also took off the CAS to stop that catching on the bulkhead.
Also decided to take the intake manifold off so I can remove the starter motor/clutch slave line from above. I had thought about taking the head off complete with intake, but will probably be better off doing that once the engine is out, and it's not my priority at the moment anyway - just need to get the replacement engine in and working by the start of October.

I opened the boot, took something out then shut it again !!!!!!
The Mk2.5 1800 crankshaft is boxed up ready to be sent off to have the new billet one made. I will be getting some longer rods made at the same time.

Drove it.
Wondered if it's possible to change the (blowing) gasket where the manifold meets the exhaust/downpipe without getting underneath the car and with just a Halfords spanner set...

Hi Wannabe, See if you can get to it through the nearside wheelarch. You might have to jack up and take the wheel off.
