Drove it to Kemble Airfield, drove around as quickly as I could (mostly) avoiding the cones and the unfriendlier areas of broken up runway and then drove it home again. Oh and I found out I can just about get the hardtop back on again single handed. It was quite hot and we only did three layouts so we were all done by 14:00.
Back there again Sept 4th - and unusually, due to holidays I guess - there are still places available if anyone fancies a go.

Cleaned my K&N airfilter. A surprising amount of crap came off it & better than it all going through the engine I suppose. It’s just drying now before I re oil it. Here it is 1/2 way through the re oiling.

Been looking into seat options that'll fit with the GC Fab door bars, so far have only come up with these 2: THIS and THIS ONEOr some Louts seats, but they seem to be rare to come up nowadays.

I saw a pair of RCC seats in a 5 at the weekend. They looked very nice and apparently were half the cost of Tillets. I didn't ask to sit in it but will if I get the chance at the next solo in a few weeks. Also didn't realise they did so many different types either.
Made in Portugal, and website under construction but spec sheets and a gallery are here. lusomotors.com/
Also noticed he has a sequential shifter in development for NA/NB which looks interesting - it's the last of the spec sheets before the gallery.

Rich.

Funny you mention RCC, there's a guy in Lithuania selling a pair with mounts. They look good, seems a bit of a deal, just wondering whether I would fit or not

Was back in the garage last night after some family holidays and a week of wrestling with the Subaru suspension to get it through the MOT, so back on the engine swap. I couldn't get near the exhaust bolts at the bottom of the manifold so undid the manifold at the top. One of the studs came out with the nut on the end but everything else was OK. Looks like I need to undo some of the other exhaust bolts to get it to come out through the engine bay, then (I think) all that's left is to disconnect the engine from the transmission and hoik it out...

I drove the Mongrel to work and back.
Still using Me221 Autotune so I came home in third gear at 70 MPH to fine tune the mapping. High revs and light ish throttle apart from the hill which needs a bit more wellie.
Third gear good for 20 MPH all the way to 80 MPH !!!!!
At the ripe old age of 62 I still take the hard top off on my own with no hoist ( in reference to a previous post further up ) I use two hands though !!!
I have just seen the Longer Stroke Crankshafts that Bofi are offering. seem like a reasonable price.
I have just had a new quote for my planned short stroke crankshaft which is twice the cost of a Bofi long stroker !!!!

Pfff- call that ripe? - I've got another 5 years of wrinkles and creaky joints on top of that to contend with!
