An inebriated bid on Ebay has resulted in a K&N Apollo for my future Randall intake, not bad for £36 delivered: MX-5 NA 11/12/2017 by Scott Reid, on Flickr

You planning on sticking it out of the bonnet? Picture makes it look huge but it's only 240mm at it's widest point, adapter onto the MAF then flexi duct to a connection in the fire wall. Not treading new ground on this one, but I'll get whoosh noises and hopefully no heat soak (otherwise I'll be going mad with the gold reflective tape).

Spent 15 minutes using warm water and some 'persuasion' to melt the ice that was sealing the doors and locks shut
Spent 15 minutes scraping ice off the screen and windows and lights.
Cursed the fact that the roof rubbers were too stiff to let the roof come down
Had a small oversteery moment of joy on the way to the petrol station.
Finally got the roof down.
Had a small oversteery moment of crash on the way out of a mini-roundabout
Oops.
Damage = shattered front plate, very scuffed front bumper, but (amazingly) that's it.
I was expecting a wing, headlight, etc etc, but seemingly I was travelling sideways enough to just scrape the nose against the street furniture, rather than impact head-on.
I swear my 5 is indestructible.
Lesson learnt - no 'testing' how slidey it is unless in areas with nothing to hit. Good job no-one was coming the other way!

I have no problem with the weather conditions rather my ability to control the urge to go sideways all the way to my destination (which may include dikes etc)

I once took my ex GF's RD125LC out on compacted snow, the throttle froze fully open due to ice in the cable, had to control the engine via the kill switch, sideways every time I switched the power back on, great fun. Was disappointed when the heat melted the ice lol

I had a moment on the way in today when the throttle cable decided to go wide open, was on a nicely gritted and defrosted dual carriageway so it wasn't risky, and it freed off ok and didn't do it again, but it could well have been an interesting drive in if it had stayed that way. Wannabe... hope the car is sorted soon.

Wannabe... hope the car is sorted soon. It is basically just paint - it appears the front bumper did its job and deformed enough to take all the energy out of the impact! There's some very large scrapes, though, so it must have deformed a lot(!).
Going sideways probably helped as well - more of a gentle slowing down than a sudden stop lol
Looks properly battered, though - I better get some drift skillllz lessons in before I bother getting it painted, just in case it's a waste of money! haha

Parked it up at home.. for the last time ever. :-(
I've bought a barge. Still have her Roadster though so we aren't completely mx5less.
