Swapped front+rear discs/carriers/pads for MK2 1.8 items (upgrading from 1.6). Also fitted new brake lines, Type II Torsen differential, propshaft, driveshafts and rear uprights from MK2. Tomorrows quest is to wire in Summit RPM switch to get VICS working on new 1.8 engine.

I guess I know my way around 5's pretty well, have owned 3! Diff swap is pretty quick to do once you have everything loose, much quicker to put back together with push in type driveshafts rather than bolt on types too.

Just washing the car is a major effort if it's not sunny and over 20degrees outside, and even then I struggle to summon the energy... lol
Need to wash the salt off, though!!

Spent a few hours yesterday polishing my knob and really enjoyed the process. Started with this.
Used a Stanley knife blade to get most of the Varnish off, then sanded over with 240, 600 and 1200 grit paper and finished off with this lovely timber wax.
All that is left is make a new knob ring, just waiting for leather off cuts in the post.

I can also recommend a little danish oil after you've polished long enough !
Nice job Moro :-)

That's only to make it a pleasure when holding it in hand and visual satisfaction.

Mr postman delivered a zoom vented pop up headlight cover a Project M duck tail, one other parcel at the post office and another on its way this afternoon (ordered a gear gaiter kit and a set of IL window/door glass seals)
Looks like Santa came late, but at least he came

Tother day put new wheels on - well had Bridgestones EfficientGrip tyres onto old rims, which I had refurbished with rattle can black paint to match the bodywork.

I've had the worst running car for the past 6/8 months. Could keep a solid idle, would sputter, misfire, and be generally rubbish. I CanoeING FIXED IT.
Worked out I could spray some carb cleaner/somthing combustable near the back of the intake manifold and it would rev, so obviously a hole/vacumme leak somewhere, couldn't ever find it, today, accidentally lent on the CAS plug, and it died, 1 of the wires in it was wrecked, so some really fiddly soldering outside, in the wind, with a gas soldering iron, I got that connected back up. Low and behold, below it, and on the back of the intake, a pipe that looks like it had a hose or a blanking plug on it at some point, blocked it with my finger, and the car suddenly idle's beautifully. Bit of hose and screw later to block it off and its perfect!!
Also replaced the fuel filter cos I CBA'd when I serviced it a few months back.
And then I found out that my front left tire was literally totally bald on one edge, so chucked a spare pair of mk2 wheels on the front for the time being.
Still unsure what I want to do with the car cos 192k miles and rusty af. Fancing a mk2 that I can build all nice and plush (good sound system, lotsa dynamat so its comfy and warm and quiet, heated seats, aircon etc. I'm not really bothered about fast, stock is plenty nippy for me, and reliable.

I haven’t done anything to it this weekend. Or any other weekend forever but I’m pretty sure I’ve just purchased some GSX-R 750 throttle bodies.
Noise, noise, noise, no extra power, noise, expense!

Actually drove it for the first time in a couple of weeks - steering / suspension at the front left is still clonking like a biatch and it's still down on power, but was nice to get out with the roof off Given I lost the front number plate the other week, I've been avoiding areas with fuzz potential. Route I took out of town at the weekend? Drove past 4 in the space of 3 minutes... LOL. Didn't get pulled though, amazingly! Still, I stuck on the new stick-on plate with the aid of some scissors (to cut the sticking-up ripples and flatten them down / overlap them) - @horney was right, the curves on the front bumper are a PITA... It's not perfect now but it's pretty good, although I suspect an ear-bending if I do get stopped, as it's not as vertical as it could be! Looks better, though Paint still looks rat and it needs repainting, so ultimately it won't stay on there forever.

Ooh, and I forgot - did some skidding practice this weekend as well
Was nice to get a bit of a feel for losing the back end in an environment with nothing to hit!
Am a long way from drifting, though... lol
