so the obvious affordable option is Dan (fast5) but I hear he is taking a break and he's not replied to my emails. I see Skuzzle sell one for about £40 more. Any other suggestions? Must fit with OEM fan and AC fan. Ie straight swap.
If anyone has real world experience of either fast5 or Skuzzle options that wold be great.
(I have a 95 1.8 if that makes a difference)

I have the fast5 one.
Had a issue with old hoses blowing pin holes and coolant due to the fact of the rad cap being higher pressure. One blew on the way to my gfs birthday dinner and the other at 5fest 😂 I already had silcone pipes, the ones that blew were the ones I couldn't be rear canoed to change... the rad itself seems fine though, fits with my a.c. etc

I've had a fast5 one for a few years, no problems. Recommended.

Don't forget 'the cursed water plug'! That reminds me, I need to research if the 1.8 had this wee plug or if it was just a 1.6 thing....

Which plug do you mean? <edit to add> If you mean the capped-off coolant outlet on the back of the head then on the 1.8 that's where the hose to the oil cooler connects.

Talking of radiators. Is the civic rad a performance upgrade or just a space saving help when running a turbo?
I just wondered why more people didn't do it instead of fitting an alloy rad?

space saving and better airflow into the engine bay. But it means you lose the space for an aircon fan tho.

Does the 1.8 have an oil cooler as OEM, then? That's pretty cool. (No pun intended lol)

I didn't know the 1.8 had an oil cooler - I still just have my Rod's 1.6 manual for my last car.
off to google....

Found it - annoyingly it looks to be an even bigger canoe than the 1.6 blanking plug to replace!!
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=185&t=1099491
Even Andrew mentions it on the part listing....
New, genuine Mazda water hose from rear of head to oil cooler, MX5 1.8 mk1 1993-98.
This runs from the housing on the rear of the cylinder head to the oil cooler (on the filter housing). 1.8 mk1 cars only.
This is a pig of a job to change...

Nice, let us know if it makes any difference to temperatures!
I was thinking I need to invest in one - motorways at 90+ (km/h, of course) make my temperature rise after not very long...
