Does the tail pipe of the exhaust effect the sound?
I will expand - I really like how my Larini exhaust sounds, but I reeeeally hate the 100mm tail pipe. Looks like it should be on a Corsa IMO. It has a perforated inner to the tail pipe, but I don't know if that's just for looks or if it has some kind of purpose.
Ideally I would like a small tail pipe (50mm ish) but don't want to change the NOISE too much. There is a pretty good exhaust fabricators near me, but didn't want to go in asking stupid questions (that's what you are here for) lol

It will have a small effect, yes, and you will notice a difference
Although it won't sound like a completely different exhaust

Thanks Corders, I would be happy if it still kinda sounded Larini like However, if its even louder (I guess unlikely) that could be an issue, but it gives me something to start asking questions about.

Cut the tailpipe ? grinder... then debur, course sander.. I suppose if I intend to have it replaced, its worth risking giving it a hack myself....hmmm (will add to the ever growing list)
In other news I bought an Ally rad of Dan last night - for £129 delivered, would be mad not to!!1

I've been advised that I need to cut 2-3 inches off my tailpipe - sticking out further than the bumper apparently means books might be thrown at me... I don't want it to get stupid-loud, though!

The amount by which the pipe projects from the body can make a significant difference to how much low frequency noise it emits. Can't remember quite how it's supposed to work but I *think* having it close to flush maximises the deep notes. (please someone jump on this if I got it wrong)

When the last section that comes out of the backbox and expels the gases into the air fell off my last exhaust, the boot acted as a resonance chamber and the volume in the cabin literally drove me iiiiiinsaaaaaane - so if longer makes it quieter, that is a good thing lol

Did you know Mazda specifically designed the exhaust so the note would be similar to a MG from the 1960s.
So there you go.

I'll take it to the local exhaust fabricators in the next few weeks, and get their opinion...
