So i thought i should really join up here as i've been in the 5 world for years and nutz is dying a slow death, most of you know me and i'm now back in the mx5 game having my mk2 track car and now my itb'd mk1.
Now this car has history in the mx5 scene and so does to owner, its quite a long story so i'll try and keep it short and sweet.
The car used to belong to a friend of mine who is HmsMotorsport of mx5nutz era, aka James Hayward, he was a long serving nutz member and for years was a massive part of the community, but sadly a few years ago started conning the mx5 and motorsport community and has since left the mx5 world, me and my dad tried to help him but sadly nothing could be done to help, in return i took his mk1 off him to repay everybody that was owed money by him in the mx5 scene of which now everybody has been repatriated and i get his car in return, i have known the car since he got it in stock from of what must be about 5-6 years ago now and help build it with him a few times.
But anyway thats the story out of the way and now onto the car,
Its a 1991 1.6 v special which now has the following spec list (off the top of my head as there was never a build thread)
Jenvey Itb's
Omex 600 ecu
Full Safety 21 Roll cage
Bride zeta 2 seats
Takata Harnesses
Nardi Steering wheel
Custom Dials
Billet Stalks
Zoom Starter Button
Gaz Gold Pro Coilovers
13 inch superlights with r888r's
6 Speed Gearbox
Torsen lsd
Full exhaust system
Oem front lip and track dog racing splitter
Their is much more but i can't remember all of it, the car was given to omex a few years ago as the car for them to develop there 1.6 itb kit which they did but then never ended up selling as it was to expensive to skint mx5 owners, i have done many track days in the car and it is the best mx5 i have driven, it handles amazingly.
Sadly james daily drove the car for years and to be honest has run it into the ground a little bit, so i'm here to rescue it, i'm going to give it the love it deserves.
I am going to rip the whole interior out and start again, going to fit a flocked dash, new carpet, got a m2-1001 radio surround to go in along with rs products heater panel and nakame centre console, i'm going to try and drop the seats down lower then refit the cage properly, tidy under the bonnet, probably get gaz to rebuild/check over the suspension, needs new brakes, i've also got a simpson design shorty bumper to go on along with a zoom centre exit exhaust and the wheels have been ruined by the hawk brake pads so i will probably change them too.
