It needs a respray really, maybe i could part ex against something.
Whoever owned it prior to me must have washed it in some harsh chemicals combined with the sun bleach effect. It's annoying me as it's a nice car otherwise!

When the paint fades like that is it irreversible? Will a machine polish offer any recovery?

The paint is too thin to polish any further, waxing gives a bit of temporary shine but colour difference is still noticeable.
Webuyanycar value it at 2000 less than i paid before seeing the paint, which gives me a clue I'd take a big hit part-exing.
A respray and wheel refurb is going to be in the 2000 region anyway. But if opt to restore and keep it, i quite fancy adding an exhaust and turbo remap to over 200bhp.
I wonder if you have a significant amount of money in something, are you more inclined to keep it even if it's not what you really want.. or cut your losses and take the hit on value

Natural instinct is to keep it. That's why traders have to be taught that the first loss is the best loss - it goes against human nature for most people. Just ask Nick Leeson...

When that random tool you incorrectly bought that time (and annoyed you, cause you got the wrong thing) actually comes in useful!

I love random tools. I have a couple of ground off spanners in my tool bag that I made to undo something in a difficult place on some prarrie canoe fwd shopping trolley.. can't bear to throw them out they might be useful one day

I swear I saw a thread ages ago regarding fitting a proper oil pressure sensor from an earlier Mk1 to later cars with the bluff gauge. Don't suppose anyone has a link to it, searched Nutz and can't seem to find it now..

There was a few threads on nutz about that. Otherwise for the oil pressure I think you just need to source an earlier mk1 oil sender and an early guage, I can't recall the years off the top of my head. I know my old UK model had the duff guage and that was a 97. Changed around 95 I think.

Thanks, you're probably right Yeah, mines a '96 and has the bluff gauge, clocks aren't a problem as I've got Rev Limiter ones in that already have the right markings on. Do you know if there's any difference between plugs between the senders, or is it just plug and play?
