Very true, there is always some real stand out material. I tend to prune my collection pretty ruthlessly once a year. Anything which I've done to death, or not played, or just starts to sound a bit off, gets dumped. So I see waves of things come and go. Yet for all that, loads of my collection are ancient and will never be going anywhere. Some albums and individual tunes are real classics. That said, even some of the stuff I linked to above may be gone in another year

Yeah I do the same - I'll play something to death for a few months and then I can't bear to listen to it anymore. I still keep everything though because it's pretty cool to go back to something years later and re-listen, there's nothing that brings back memories more than listening to some old tunes that you used to play incessantly at a certain point in your life.

the creme/milk theory of music.
of every genre, only 1-5% of the tracks are actually worth listening to.

Yep, that's about right. The challenge is finding them!

Well I was supposed to be working today. Although I seem to have spent most of it surfing for tunes!

For some random unrelated reason I've been just reminded of this disc, which is one of my favourites. Love it.

If you enjoyed Senking here's a couple other artists in a similar vibe.
Soehngenetic
Vladislav Delay
Continuing on this note, five or so years ago two Lithuanian producers joined forces and produced very distinctive sounding stuff. I absolutely love the way they coupled clicks and cuts sound like above with house music and their tunes would probably make a half of my desert island cd.
