I've had some unfortunate luck with MX5's in recent years. After owning a gorgeous, 250bhp turbo Laguna blue MK1 between 2011-2013, I have subsequently owned 2 absolute lemons. This new girl is ticking most of the boxes. She's rough around the edges, but the expensive stuff has been done, which is a bonus. The car is not used as a daily, it's main intention is Autosolo's as well as trackdays. With an annual ring trip thrown in for good measure. Basic spec includes; BRG MK1 Eunos Imported from Japan in 1997 The engine was fully rebuilt in 2006 to the below spec. A recent trip to Skuzzle revealed 154BHP at the wheels on a very conservative map at 5psi. Jackson Racing M45 Supercharger Jackson racing ChargeCooler Wossner Forged oversized Pistons ReBore 0.07mm Forged Rods K&N filter Dual Throttle body Mangacore 8mm leads NGK plugs 4 paddle clutch 421 jackson racing manifold Custom SS 2.5"single pipe exhaust system (Special addition Stevie Wonder welding included) MoTec M4 Standalone ECU (Eh?) Suspension Koni fully adjustable front and rear shocks and springs Meister R fully adjustable coilovers H&R 3 way adjustable unit roll bars front and rear VLSD (Functions extremely well) Full 4 wheel hunter alignment Brakes Mintex M1144 pads front and rear Yellow Stuff Pads, courtesy of Mr. Horne Brembo HC discs front and rear Misc Garage vary lip Full Jackson Racing gauges - AFR, Boost and Clock. BBS 15” alloys Since I've owned her she has had Meister R Coilovers, Yellow Stuff Pads, GCFab roll bar, Sparco Sprint, TRLane Harness, genuine OMP suede wheel and a good servicing. There is still a very long to do list however. And a couple of pictures when I first got her (Phone pics, I am afraid);

Fitted Yellow Stuff Pads, GCFab roll bar, Sparco Sprint, TRLane Harness, genuine OMP suede wheel and serviced the car. Then did an autosolo; Came mid pack, driving was rusty and outed some flaws with the car, mainly the soft suspension!

Took the car to Skuzzle, couldn't plug in to the Motec ECU but did a couple of runs to check AFR's and power. AFR's are all good and it made 154BHP@wheels (like 185 at the fly?). Then I took care of the soft suspension, fitting a set of Meister R's which are a massive improvement! Will give you my verdict on Meister R's vs Gaz Gold Pro's vs Tein Super Street's after my next autosolo!

Cheers guys! The paintwork isn't as good as the photo's make out though It's had the sills 'done' by a previous owner, it will be going in over the next couple of weeks to have them sorted properly.

let us know how the meisters hold up. Will do atlex, initial impressions from road driving are great. I'll write a fairly detailed description once I've done an autosolo on them!

Nice car, interesting that you have a Motec ECU. I have one on my RS Ltd turbo which I also had down to Skuzzle a couple of years back, why could you not connect to it? I had the software and connected fine, Nick got her running smooth with just under 230 on his dyno.

We had to run the software in a vDOS environment, but couldn't get that to recognize the serial port, therefore couldn't map. Out of interest, what Motec do you have? It may be a case of that he has sorted it since I went down there!

Motec M4 with all the bells and whistles enabled, I contacted Motec and they were very helpful.
DOS based tuning software so probably the same thing, old but very stable piece of kit and still relatively expensive to buy if and when they come up. I'll have a look at what I have software, laptop, and porting wise. I know I purchased a serial to USB cable and it works fine. Will check out later today or tomorrow.

Ah did you take your own laptop down to Skuzzles? I have the serial cable for the ECU, but Nick's laptop was the issue (It was too new, couldn't run the software properly! ). If you have a laptop/software that can plug into it I may have to ask to borrow it in exchange for beer tokens or something!

Copied over existing set up visited Nick, was running Windows 7 I think at the time with DOS Box. There are issues with some of the cables though, also depends on what age the ECU is, Motec have serial numbers on their site if I remember.

Where abouts are you based chap? Would you mind if we tried to plug into it with your setup if you're not too far away?
