Hello, Just from a point of view that I don't really care too much about emissions and don't want exhaust gases going back into my engine, have any of you done EGR delete's in the past and is it a pain to do or is it relatively easy? Car is a 2004 Euphonic 1.6. It sounds like it has variable timing as around 5k it really picks up and there's a difference in the sound. Any advice/info is greatly appreciated Gracias Will

Pretty sure the 1.6s never came with VVT.
You should just be able to blank off the EGR with no issues.

Oh also what are people's opinions on 'engine cleaning' because when changing my spark plugs yesterday and looking into the cylinder the pistons were super carbony and black and didn't look full of performance.
Just trying to get as much out of the engine as cheaply as possible.

re cleaning - you could look at decarbonizing your engine.. it requires a little water and maybe a little hose in the intake to let the water in. there's some youtube vids on that.
requires a hot engine tho!
