Top feed injectors - rx8s yellows, which are also top feed, look like these: God, I love this forum. Thanks! I need to get high impedance injectors to work with the EFI solution I'll be purchasing - these look like they'll do nicely. I ended up ordering the ITBs because my tax return was better than expected, there was a coupon code for OER products and the Yen / GBP exchange rate was pretty favourable in comparison to the Yen / USD - nice to have both options now. Estimated delivery date is 20th March, which gives me a month to get the new EFI setup working. Weather is slowly warming up now, we just hit our first day above freezing this year.

Thanks - but the difficult part is going to be when everything arrives! Next up will be removing the exhaust manifold to get an O2 bung welded into it. Wish I'd had the foresight to do this last year when I had the exhaust built.

Second hand set of RX8 injectors ordered. After doing a bit of reading, it turns out that there's a heap of cheap Chinese copies of the injectors on eBay right now (for around $60 - $100 a set) that are really nowhere near as good in terms of spray pattern etc. I've got a set of 4 on the way that I'll use to test fit now, and I'll try and pick up another set over the next month. Then (assuming they all fit) I'll send them away to be cleaned and flow tested - and as a bonus, I'll have an extra 2 injectors spare. I also ordered the other major component - the FAST EFI kit. We're now getting more days above freezing, so I'm hoping to get to the storage unit and fit the seat (finally) and then start on getting the car ready for the ECU replacement. It's apparently plug and play . I'll probably take the opportunity to remove some more emissions stuff from the engine bay. As the car was originally Californian, it has a lot of extra emissions regulation stuff on it, which in Minnesota is not required.

Who makes the FAST EFI kit? Are you going to be using Alpha-N on this?
I think Skuzzle did a guide on working out which ones are real and which ones are fake on the RX8 injector front.

Yeah, genuine denso cleaned and tested, from a rotary shop, are the best option

Who makes the FAST EFI kit? Are you going to be using Alpha-N on this? I think Skuzzle did a guide on working out which ones are real and which ones are fake on the RX8 injector front. It's made by FAST - Fuel Air Spark Technology (http://www.fuelairspark.com/). The plan is to use it to just control the fuelling, and use the stock distributor for ignition. I'm fairly sure this will work - if not, I'll look at an additional ignition module for the ECU and running COPs. First thing will be to get it all working on the stock setup, then throw on the ITBs and start figuring out the issues. It supports either Alpha-N or Speed Density. I had a poor experience using Speed Density or blended with my MX5 ITBs, but they were home built and I ran without a vac block, so the MAP signal was always unreliable. I'm fairly sure that there were always air leaks that I never fully got to the bottom of either. I'm hoping a higher quality off the shelf kit will not have these issues. I will be intrigued to try Speed Density first, as there is a lot of positive feedback for the FAST EFI ECU running in that mode. I'll have a look for that guide - if getting a matched set of RX8 injectors ends up being too difficult, I might just go with a Deatschwerks or SARD set instead. ETA: I may eventually change to a Megasquirt, as that's what I've used in the past. Getting the car running on GM sensors will make this heaps easier anyway, but that involves getting a crank trigger wheel, and probably solving a whole set of other problems that I haven't thought about yet. If I eventually go this route, I'd want to build a new engine as well - there's some nice stroker kits available...

It's probably all going to fail miserably, and I'll just end up driving a Jeep for the rest of my life and hating it.

Found 5 minutes to drop the seat in. I'll try and get some time to put all the bolts in this week.

And some more goodies. Kit looks very thorough.

Blimey. Lots going on since I last read this thread. ITBs on this are going to sound insane!

Those seats are something else! This car will be great.
Like an e type with attitude!

Injectors here as well. The connectors on the ECU wiring loom don't match, so I'll have to replace those for Denso connectors. I've been through the entire ECU kit and it looks like it's all there. I'll get some pictures of all the parts soon.
13" snow forecast for tomorrow, so it's unlikely I'll be getting any car work done this weekend.
