How about 195/50, much larger range of tyres in this size... The 50 profile helps to not look too stretchy.

Minimum recommended size for 8inch wheels is 215 And with tyre stretch now being mot fail I don't wanna spend money on tyres I can't even have

Are the proxy any good in the wet? I've heard they lack a little when it's damp

Hi there. I have R888's at 225 on 8" rims front and rear on my MK2. On track when hot they are fantastic, streets ahead of an otherwise competent Nankang. The Nankang is a great STREET tyre both dry and wet.
The R888's are very noisy on the street and LETHAL in the rain, slow right down and stay on the black bit. However again very good street tyre when it's a dry day.
No performance tyre is going to be good in the rain.
Regards. Rich.

Are the proxy any good in the wet? I've heard they lack a little when it's damp I ran the T1-S in 185/55 on a different car so different details and apples/oranges noted... but poor turn in as they rolled onto the sidewalls, poor turn in feel as it felt like you were going to plough straight on, and in the wet there was zero progression - just gripping... gripping... sliding with no warning. I would never buy them again! but others swear by them (which I find bizarre - perhaps others don't drive as near to the limits as I do).

195/50R15 are great on anything from 6.5" to 8" wide wheels. I've had 15x8 6ULs on 195s for years .. no issues at all.
