Good evening guys. When I'd bought the Autolink gear shifter rubber boot kit and it said that I should replace the turret oil at the same time. So after some Google time I came across this guide on the pistonhead forum. www.miata.net/garage/trans/everything.html So I thought it would be good idea to replace all oils when I'm getting the car ready for the road My question is what brands and grades that you would recommend for refreshing the oil on the Turret, Gearbox and the diff. My car is never going to be a track day devil, just want a well oiled B road blaster ! Thanks in advance

75W90 GL4 for the gearbox (and turret), 75W90 GL5 for the diff. They're different oils for slightly different jobs.
Don't stress about the brands as much as the grade and it being fully synth.
I've used Redline recently... Redline "MT90" is the GL4 - Redline "Gear Oil" is the GL5.
Brands.. Redline, Mobil, Motul, Millers, Castrol, Titan Fuchs, Royal Purple are all great and producing oils in this greade
Opie Oils if you want delivery or just wander down to hellfrauds, who probably pimp the Mobil and Castrol options.
There's a lovely guide here for the turret job (I've done it a few times)
Get an old hand soap dispenser, it helps a ton on the turret bit.

Good timing thread - I need to do this soon, my rubber boots are so bad I can see down to my driveway from the drivers seat!

There's a bit of controversy about GL-4 versus GL-5 for the gearbox. As I understand it, early formulations of GL-5 damaged brass synchro rings, but (so I'm told) you would be very unlucky to find such a formulation nowadays. I'm pretty sure Mazda say to use GL-5 in the owner's manual.
Anyway I often used GL-5 for both gearbox and diff of my old Mk.1 and the gearbox was one of the few original parts of the car still going strong after 450,000km. I mostly used Comma SX75w-90 because it was cheap and easy. Like me.
