It’s the price of digital callipers than surprises me, when first introduced by Mitutoyo, nobody on the shop floor could afford them, now they are less than a tenner in Aldi!

I'm possibly rare in engineering as I don't like or trust digi measuring equipment, prefer the old style and number 1 eyeball Rich. (Dinosaur?)

I've got both digital and old style and I use the old style more since I learned to use them. Both Mityutoyo tho.

That's a bit like comparing a decent car to a Lada. The ten quid versions are fine for home games like me, but if you do actual engineering...

All my micrometers, verniers and clocks are Moore and Wright, bit of a traditionalist… Found a slide rule I had at Grammar school the other day, can’t read the scale, let alone remember how to use it. Got a huge bollocking for taking it into a maths exam. Happy days.
