That is pretty cool. Presumably they measure the distance from the redshift. That made me wonder how much redshift there is in light arriving from 9 billion light years away but that led straight down the rabbit hole of "I think you'll find it's a little bit more complicated than that...".

Modern "Grand Seiko".. If you have 6 grand to spend on a watch... this also discusses how Japanese cars beat everyone else. I kinda like japanese watches (well, everything japanese) so this is of interest.
