Not exactly the mod of the century but I need a bag for my holiday next week and no way was I paying £100 for a purpose made one £20 for a 100ltr bag £15 for three straps (the buckles don't hold very well tbh but a quick knot prevents them from loosening) £12 for a sheet of 4mm rubber Will pack everything in bin liners so not concerned if the bag leaks. Its a big bag but only plan on putting sleeping bags and some clothes etc in it.

I'd feed the securing straps through the metal handle loops for a more secure fitting.

Nice job! Quality ratchet straps are probably the most important bit. You can always plastic-bag your contents too to avoid water.

836 miles and it didn't move an inch, well not far enough to worry.
Police just gave it a casual glance but got amusing reaction from other drivers.
