Hi all, I have an intercooler to fit and it seems huge. Image here. i.imgur.com/S5gdR6C.jpgI would love it if I could keep my AC and with the set up I have the intercooler sits right were the AC rad is. I'm wondering if I opted for a smaller IC then I could sandwich the ac rad between the radiator and IC. Would a smaller IC be better?

What boosted setup are you running? My understanding from reading too much about intercoolers... On a supercharger setup you want a balance between cooling and pressure drop as they generate a lot of heat, but not as much psi, although you can reduce pressure drop by reducing the length of the inlet and reducing the number of bends. On a turbo setup you could counter the pressure drop of a big cooler by taking the wastegate pressure reference from just before the throttle body rather than the turbo outlet (although if you develop a boost leak, then your turbo is at risk). I'd say for a 250bhp turbo setup that cooler was about right. To reinstall AC you really just need a thinner cooler. Is there no room to push what you have forward?

I'll be attempting a mock up soon and will have a better idea. Looking at my standard set up it appears as though the ac rad is right where the IC will sit.

how much power are you after ?

TD05s are capable of up to 400bhp aren't they? If that's what you're aiming for that intercooler is probably about right...

it'll be lag city and if you get up to that power, you'll probably want forged rods, if not forged pistons too.

My aim is circa 220-230bhp. Certainly not 400!

My aim is circa 220-230bhp. Certainly not 400! You miight be introducing needless lag to your setup with an IC that big. Something to consider.
