With MX5 prices starting to (slowly) defy gravity, what will the next car be that starts to attract ‘collector’ status?
We’ve seen fast Fords rise in value, Peugeot and Golf GTIs go crazy, so what’s next?
Looking at my crystal balls, I’m tempted to say Audi TT. Radical body shape, kick starting coupes back to the masses, was reasonably hot in some guises and affordable, so people have an affinity to it. What else is out there that we soon will wish we had kept and not sold on?

Honda Accord Aerodeck. '93.
American built for the UK market. Try and find one of them because my missus wants another one!! Wish we'd kept it but I bought an mx5 again and she bought one too. D'oh.

I sold the one we had for 200 quid 3 years ago because I couldn't be bothered to MOT it, in hindsight it probably would have passed an MOT with a little bit of work. Nice car. Fast enough for a big estate but juicy as hell on the fuel which was why we binned it, now I'm looking at getting a barge again. An Omega or something.

VW Lupo GTI. Had real essence of the of the MK1 Golf GTI about it with very similar dimensions and as a result was a blast to drive.

Some of these may already be but: Tailgate McNoIndicate M-Coupe, E46 M3, Nissan 350Z, Clio 172/182, Monaro/VXR8, S2000.
My thinking is anything that is driver orientated, end of era feature (example: non turbo V6), expensive upkeep (thins numbers regardless of how many manufactured), popular track car (as per previous).

Mk2 focus ST Especially the asbo orange!! That's a good call for future classic status. Popular car with a halo model all the kids wanted. I used to think the Alfa Romeo 156 was a good candidate but it looks like there are just going to be too few of them left by the time they feel like classics and they lack the 'halo' model as the mid-range 2.0 was probably the best of the bunch.
