Cool, I wasn't sure if it was the circuit or another venue in the area.

Howard , Do you have a spreadsheet with the timing equation built in? Interested just to see where my times would have put me in some of the championship rounds.

Howard , Do you have a spreadsheet with the timing equation built in? Interested just to see where my times would have put me in some of the championship rounds. Like yourself I wanted to see how I would fair so, I tried to work that out for myself too but it's tricky as it relies on event results and they don't seem to be stored anywhere, CMSC are not very good at sharing information in a clear way, be it website or facebook (happy to be educated otherwise, but feel I have a fair grasp on the internet by now and reckon I should have found it ) you have to have a good old search for info, which I did for a few events, I took Howard as my target looked at results from the events he was at and who won etc using my times and the algorithm formula for me which would be 88.9 and can see I'd be at the sharp end. we'd probably have a right old ding dong, unless I get penalised for having traction control (which I never use) but just doing that highlights issues for me with that championship, you look at aswmc, HSA, even my local club championships and you can just click and get all the info you need. Penalties are 1-3% for electronic aids and 2.5% for 1B, both seem a bit on the harsh side. I used 2017regs for calcs as that was all I could find, I have the 2018 entry forms and calendar, interestingly the entry form doesn't have a tick box for electronic aids so perhaps they have removed that from 2018 regs.

Hi Sandy
Here goes for a few answers for you- The results after each run are published to the CM competitors & it’s pretty easy to work out where you need to be time-wise to stand a chance of doing well. Event results are usually swiftly published to club members along with a 500 word + pics narrative e-mag called the ‘Oily Rag ‘. Usually contains good banter too. It’s nice to receive even if you haven’t been at that particular round- I really look forward to it.
If you reckon you’re about 89%, with your times you should be in the mix. To be honest, anyone who drives well & tries a bit can be competitive. What CM isn’t is cheque book racing & someone with 140hp can beat another person with 450hp if they drive well. There was a guy in a 180hp Mk3 last year & am pretty sure he didn’t declare the stability thing, but his times weren’t that quick anyway. Maybe you can improve on his if you enter. Tyres are a tactical thing. 1As work almost as well as 1Bs some places & 1Bs are massively quicker in others. There’s 15+ years of data to prove this. Also it’s about affordability too. It makes the series as accessible as possible. This year there were 60+ entries & 2018 looks bigger still with Morgan & Alpine looking to join. I really like the handicap system as me in a little MX5 can mix it up with some proper race cars & quite often beat them. If anyone is thinking about having a go, I would thoroughly recommend this competition.

Thanks Howard, I will run 1As next year anyway, having 1As leaves my car open to do other events. I didn't feel 1Bs gave anything I needed for sprinting/hills and ruled me out of some of the other events I do for fun.
HSA events are clashing a bit with a few things next year the CM does same events as different time, so may work out for me.

Popped my entry in, see how it goes, not sure how many I will get too as I am trying to buy a house/garage and that boring stuff might get in the way but there's some time before the first event, should give me some time to fit some bits and pieces I have had for a while, drop it's weight a bit, so at least there will be some changes to the car such like I will feel like I haven't done something.
Is there a specific date they do the dyno and weight check, just wondered how much time I have before first event to finish car?
Game on.

Good one Sandy.
The dyno/weigh in dates are on that email I sent you- just scroll down. Think it’s the 3rd or 17th March.

Unlike half the paddock my car bends no rules, not like you roofless mod prod mx5 boys playing in roadgoing I'm too honest for my own good.
Though I am probably going to follow everyone else down that shady roof route with the NC cages issues being what they are and MSAs reluctance to bend on that point in the interests of safety.

tbh Sandy, fit the half cage, I wouldn't want to compete without one... if anyone protests that they are clearly a weapons grade canoe If anything its detrimental to performance due to the weight gain up high!

Well I have a hard top now, must be 25kgs all up top, nice so I can do next steps, It's just time and money that are the problem now, not sure I will seriously compete this year outside of autosolo, probably just cherry pick a few new events and see how it goes. It will then be soft top out and a half cage probably but have been thinking things through and I might actually build a 3.5/3.75 as my next weapon, rather than continue abusing this old girl or going down the trailer queen kit car route with it as was my original plan.
