I still think I prefer the out and out who is fastest aspect. Lets see how this season goes first. Shelsley Midland should be fun - me and two 911 GT3s in the Midland Champs! I feel the same as it's a bit complicated, but figured you'll still have the times of all competitors from the event and regardless of class I always look at everything so convinced myself it is not a problem really apart from when you have Classic Marques Class which puts you in with everything like the dedicated HSA class, not so nice for pot hunting

So some quick maths to see if im as fast as Scott Moran at gurston.... 700bhp 420kg car. 70 kg driver Slicks +3.5% Gives a approx algorithm of 112.2% So a 26 second run at Gurston equates to a 29.17 run... My pb of 36.68 at 96% = 35.21 Hmmm think we need to factor aero in!

So, a good weekend’s Hillclimbing. The track was dry apart from 1st thing Sunday after the previous night’s thunderstorms. 35 CM competitors Saturday & 39 Sunday- from a 1939 Morgan ‘flat rad to a very new looking V6 Exige. My goal was to get into the 39 Seconds as the quickest my brother had been was 40.7 the previous year. As normal my starts were a little wayward but by the last run I managed to get the car off the line, a little left foot dab on the brakes at the bottom of hollow & managed to get through karusel without too much heroics being required, slight power slide out of ashes then 2nd & 3rd redlined, quick change to 4th for the last few seconds to the line. 39.23sec Managed to win on handicap by 0.01. Sunday I was just trying too hard & had the car on the grass at Karusel & then was a little steady to make sure of a time for points, still managed a 39.89 which was good enough for 4th in class. So, 25 points Saturday & 24.64 Sunday is a good start to the season.

Good time, well done, I don’t seem to be able to crack 40 yet, reckon it might be in the car, I pretty much match the quick stuff in class to the int time with a low 21 but it all goes to pot from there once I go back up the hill. The number of cars that lost it at Karosel looking at facebook it would seem perhaps the track was a bit green, so perhaps there’s even more in it. Your CM handicap wasn’t much difference than my own, I’d have thought your car would be lighter and have more power with boost. I'm going to have to work hard next weekend at Anglesey to take you on in the CM Mazda class, it'll be fun trying

Goodwood is a bit of a journey into the unknown for me as I’ve done so few laps there (4) & I’ve got a prarrie canoe memory. Had a good journey down & found some nice roads especially the B2141/B2146. Was keeping everything crossed for dry weather as I don’t need the complication of a damp track with such little experience whilst trying hard. As it turned out the track stayed dry which meant that I could really lean hard on the new suspension. Practice is a 2 lapper, but unfortunately the car in front was slower & despite me warning the marshalls, I caught it by the end of the first lap- I only managed a 104 sec lap compared to my previous pb of 101.5 T1 was ‘interesting ‘ as I had to make it up as I went along because I couldn’t remember where the track went a couple of times, still, managed a 100.7 which I was pleased with. The new HSD suspension was really enabling me to carry a lot of speed. T2 was going really well until I had a misfire after about a 1/3 of the way through the lap- I’m such a divot; I’d forgotten to fuel up after lunch!!! T3 went really well, it’s amazing how much difference a gallon of fuel makes...... I was really starting to get the hang of the circuit & managed to do a 99.7. But it meant nothing as the penultimate car in the class has a big off & ended the meeting- which meant that the last car couldn’t run. Under our championship rules that means that everyone’s last time didn’t count. Gutted as I would’ve really smashed the opposition. Still won by 1.4 sec over the 2nd place guy.
Anglesey next weekend for a double header. Another new circuit to learn.

Shame about the last time but I guess it's the same for everyone and so fair, same happened to me at Pembrey though not due to accident but all the single seaters not going out due to rain time wasting meaning the event timed out and not everyone got a second run, very annoying an accident you can forgive poncy single seaters time wasting....just no!

Well the Classic Marques Formula seem to work out well for me on the weekend at Anglesey letting me battle with much quicker cars, even had me leading for the first two timed, unfortunately fluffed my third run with too much slidy, slidy when others stepped up their game and dropped to third behind the S2000 and 718 S, cracking track, shamed I missed the first day as I reckon I could have scored well there too. Not sure how often I'll visit as it is bloody far.

Good effort Sandy. It’s an interesting competition isn’t it. Gutted I wasn’t there.

I did find it a little frustrating waiting to see where I stood, I lack patience, you can see it in my driving but I'll be honest after practice I didn't try to hard to find out, looked like it was in the bag for others, so just got my slip I went about my business of getting my time down, it was a surprise when some of the guys came up to say I was leading only myself to blame for loss in T3, the time was in the car to have taken 'em, the driver unfortunately is a muppet

the time was in the car to have taken 'em, the driver unfortunately is a muppet I think that’s true for a lot of us. Lol.

Classic Marques are off to Prescott this Saturday, there are approx 30+ in the class! 3 of us are driving SC MX5s, a tuned MK3 & a double driven standard 1.6 MK1. We are in the Posh paddock too. Unfortunately the ‘non sequential’ PDK gearboxes in the 3 Porsches have a massive advantage here, so I don’t expect to do well.

If your car works, you're gonna be up there, you won't need to do much gearchange wise surely, Prescott is low speed, or do you have a high FD? Peter Taylor is pretty hot in his 718 Boxster reckon he'll be a challenge, not your average Porsche owner, he has a Porsche and can pedal it. If you get the weather reckon you guys will be gunning for the record.

Peter Taylor was very impressive at Loton in his 718. Rapid car driver combo. Very nice chap too.
