I've wanted a second car for a while but due to stupid placement of speed camera vans I'd managed to get 12 points on my licence and insuring one vehicle was expensive enough
Well with the help of the Eunos (being fun at normal road speeds) I've now got a clean licence and would like a more practical car to pop to the shops in etc etc
I rang around a few so called import specialists offering multicar policies but it seems they only covered UK cars on said policies Grrr. So looking for companies that offer mirrored no claims that will give me a sensible quote.

I've used multicar once or twice but have always ended up with cheaper insurance overall by insuring all my cars separately. Phone enough companies you'll find one that will give you introductory discount based on discount you have on other vehicles etc. to get that policy down, I found adding my mum and missus as drivers helped bring prices down.

Sky did for me in past.
Green light do too.

Just had a reasonable quote from Hodgsonin insurance, 60 percent discount which is pretty good, going to ring them later and get quotes on a few different cars, original quote was £436 for a 1.8 Vectra (seen a clean lowish millage one for not a lot of money) I still may go with it as its had some money spent on it and shouldn't require much servicing for some time.

I've got 3 cars with greenlight for a grand total of around 800 quid. (2 roadsters, 1 xtype)
But I've not been any more in the red than 3 points.

BTW avoid Admiral / EUI if you can possibly do it. don't touch them.
Admiral Insurance 'Bell' from Admiral (Exclusively Telematics Policies, previously Bell Insurance) Confused.com Diamond Insurance (for female drivers, launched in July 1997) Elephant Gladiator (for commercial vehicles)

If the car is standard then price comparison sites can do a reasonable job, my other cars range are about £180 a year as they are standard, the MX5 is £350 due to all mods declared, though reviewing my Greenlight policy I can’t see them mentioned anywhere which is odd, Greenlight didn’t strike me as the greatest value just easiest for the mods, I haven’t done much shopping around on the 5 as mods make it a pain in the rear canoe, but the stock vehicles are really easy to get the price down on.

I've found Greenlight cheaper, in general, than any unmodified car policies from "normal" insurers. There are probably other specialist insurers that are as good.

My insurance on the Eunos with be less than half what I paid last year, insurance scammers count them for 5 years even though they are spent, so in real terms I guess it's only going to cost about an extra £150 per year to have a second car (+ tax etc)
Worth that just for the convenience
Will try some of the companies you recommended and go car shopping.
Thanks for the replies

Check out A-plan in Thatcham. They’re a broker & I have 5 cars with them- only 125 for the Eunos fully comp (just dropped a few DVLA points too), think you should look at ‘the other site’ as they do forum deals on insurance.

Think it may be worth looking around for cheaper insurance for the 5 rather than spending to much time looking for mirrored discount, 60 percent's a pretty decent offer and I know there are better (cheaper) companies that I now have access too now my points have been removed. Again thanks for the reply

+1 on Tesco Bank. I have a naughty licence and they provide me with good prices. They don't cover imports or anything modified though.

Blimey, just had my renewal from greenlight it's gone up £120 to £474, I think they can do one this year. I shall try some of the sites mentioned.
