I have the "xida" custom valved AST dampers. I bought mine from what is now ACD motorsport in cheltenham. AST made the original 949 racing Xida dampers. I enquired whether they had some of the xida valved items in stock - Curtis ordered some sets of these dampers from Holland. They are based on the 5200 bodies but are single adjust. They can be converted to double adjust with remote reservoirs in the future if needed. I went with the 949 autocross rates of 700lb front spring 400lb rear. ( i think the helpers are 150lb) I think they offer incredible performance on track and at the same time are plush on the road. Id run slightly lower springs rates if it were solely a road car though!

I didn't know AST made the XIDAs, I'll ask my mate about that exact spec, and see the difference in price between that and with remote reservoirs too. I've been really impressed with AST and MOTON, I know they've got big things planned in the next couple of years. Also to clarify, they'd be coming direct from the factory, my friend works at AST Holland head office, not in a country specific re-seller, so unlimited customisation is available.

First gen Xidas yes. 949 moved on to another manufacturer and made some changes to the spec. That said, Apextwins car is mega on those dampers ---ding--- beat me to it

I’m going to be ordering the MeisterR Clubrace in the next few days. They’re due in stock end of the first week of June so should be on the car by mid June.
Having looked at various options and reviews MeisterR seem to be consistently good.

RRP for my dampers was 1600GBP +VAT. Ring Curtis at ACD motorsport in Cheltenham - he was willing to do a deal on them a couple of years ago, making them a fair bit cheaper! Somewhere in the 1250+VAT range.

£1250 for those shocks would be a bargain!

Yeah, stuff at this end of the wedge isn't cheap... hence why the majority of owners stick with the Meister R/HSD/BC etc offerings.

Funny how things go round in circles ... currently looking at suspension again!
Guessing the short list is ... Xida, AST, Ohlins, maybe Fox ... not sure what else there is else there that's top end for primarily track and some fast road use

Possibly, but honestly they were a 25 year old set of suspension with years and years of hard track use ... ok for road use now but I don't think they would have lasted well on track. Saying that, the older PCV are infinitely better than the newer ones because of the increased rear travel Russell

agreed on that but Ohlins are rebuildable and can also be re-valved / upgraded for sensible money (will be having my set serviced in the future) am watching this in case theres a wonder-damper available for less than the gdp of a mid-African republic Rich.

Infinitely better Russell? I've found nothing wrong with the rear travel of the current DFVs, have you driven them? If not, you're welcome to have a go in mine next time I'm up your way (I still have a batchelor bar on hold for you....)
