Hi, I have a replacement diff, propshaft, driveshafts (halfshafts if you're american) to go into my mk1.
On one of the driveshafts, both joints move very freely and fluidly. On the other, only one moves freely. The other joint near the wheel hub is noticeably stiffer. Should I be concerned and only put the "good" one in, or is this normal? I have taken the boot off and looked inside, there's plenty of grease so nothing obvious wrong.
I'd rather not put a dodgy CV joint in if it's going to give me grief ?

If it was on a FWD car, it could/would click repetitively when turning, but that's not any use here lol A dry joint might cause the car to 'wobble' slowly under acceleration IIRC, because it sticks then releases then sticks then releases... but that's also not much use here because it's not fitted yet I would wait until someone more useful comes along lol

Hmm, still not sure what the difference between 'stiff' and 'notchy' is, may I need to look at another one, anyone got one in the reading / berks area?

it's a dirty job but try cleaning (and inspecting) and regreasing the bad joint...
