Hi All,
From the request off my "hello" thread I thought I would knock up a progress thread, granted I've had the car since April 2017 and a lot of progress has been made since.
When I picked the car up it was a bog standard RS model apart from the wheels. Bilstein dampers, raised redline etc etc. The guy I bought it off was also breaking his mk1 trackcar so I snapped his hand off for the Meister R coilovers he was selling.
The car's paint was extremely tired so I took up my detailing skills and got the DA polisher out.
Before:
After:
I also detailed the engine bay:
I ordered some new wheels, Team Dynamics Pro race 1.2s in Satin Graphite with ET25 offset along with Yokohama AD08r:
From here I got the coilovers fitted along with the new wheels and a hunter wheel alignment done at AK Automotive:
A new steering wheel #racecar and gear gaiter, knob and handbrake etc:
AK Automotive had some JDM bits for sale being a maxim works manifold and autoexe carbon induction kit so these got fitted and I also painted the cam cover and inlet manifold:
I've also fitted Lotus Elise seats into the car now, a cobalt backbox and centre section (with sports cat).
I also fitted a front lip to the car and an offset number plate (and some paint):
Before:
After:
A random pic of snowfoam goodness:
Last month I changed the front and rear brake discs and pads from oem to EBC plain discs and yellow stuff pads, replaced the brake fluid with ATE TYP200 (full bleed) and fitted a DIY brake stopper (a part off a babygate in our spare room):
The brake stopper made a huge difference as did the bleeding of the brakes (did a couple of weeks after the new discs and pads).
Most recent buy is a IHI VF28 turbo off a classic STI impreza (got RX8 yellow injectors too and a G19 washer bottle):
I'm going to chip away at buying parts for a turbo build with the intention of doing it in the winter.
I also did a full underseal a couple of months ago with Bilt Hamber Dynax system. Literally the worst job I've done on the car, took ages and very messy but can't fault the Bilt Hamber stuff. Spending 30 hours under the car reassured me of the lack of rust on the 5, seems I've bought a good one! Pleased I don't need to repeat this job with the same magnitude for a few years.
