I neatly file every piece of paper related to the car. Instructions, wiring diagrams, specifications - it's all there. It used to be in one big folder, but it got too big to handle so I've split it into 2. Just finished those, so need to buy another one now. Please tell me I'm not the only one to do this.

Your use of plastic for each sheet is a step above, but I totally have a folder with wiring diagrams, old Lots, service history, all it's tax discs from import and other relevant stuff
But then I also have 3 separate workshop manuals - a rod Grainger, a Haynes and one other

You're a canoeing nerd, mate.
(sometimes I think of keeping track of the waste of cash my grinmobile is, but I'm too lazy)

Ditto, but I use one sleeve for two receipts, back to back, it’s history....

I don't bother with every receipt but if I have papers I stash them..
What I do do is log down the mileage and date of everything that is done to the car, kinda in this format - makes it easier to know when to do servicing..
201807 56330M New Clutch, Left CV Boot replaced. 201804 56000M Switched back to black 13" steelies for summer 201801 55000M Flushed the heater matrix, added double-safe hose clips for heater matrix 201712 54800M Service: Oil Comma 5W40 and Sparks.

I add everything to a pile and then at some point get annoyed stuff is not in chronological order when I need to find something... LOL
I took out a year's worth of petrol receipts from the car the other day - depressing how many there were, it was about an inch thick!!

That's what I do, receipts when I remember to not throw them away, and if I've had work done at a garage, then I include the invoice.

Oh, that's what I do as well. For each car there is a folder of papers and a Google spreadsheet containing details of each part purchased and/or replaced and any work done along with costs. Makes a depressing reading later

I tend to do this for jobs at work. Collect all the drawings, datasheets, cable schedules, along with permits, risk-assessments, work instructions etc. Also make notes, and type them up into memos if they'll be useful later. I have a terrible memory. Can never remember how I fixed anything I just don't have the motivation to do it at home. Or a printer. I'd imagine it would be the kind of thing I'd have to do if I was doing a fill restoration or a major project. My old man has a similar thing for his MGB.
