Evening folks, I've recently installed a Stack water temp gauge, got it wired up and working as it should, just haven't wired up the lighting!
Ideally I'd like to wire it so the backlight only comes on with the sidelights/headlights. I'm intending on using the ashtray light wiring as it's not any use to me, is it as simple as wiring the 12v source for the gauge on one wire, then the separate ground for the backlight on the other?
My little understanding is that all the lights on the 5 have 2 wires, one permanent and one that grounds through some form of relay?
Apologies if I'm not making sense, wiring and me don't get along! 😂😂

the ashtray light is a great source, it being spare and all and just annoying and pointless. I used it in the past to wire up a light for a relocated lighter socket (into the cubby).

Cheers! I didn't know it was there until someone told me, I'd unplugged it several times without ever chasing it to see what it did 😂 Had a fiddle with it last night (oo er), and it's all wired up now
