Can't believe I haven't come across this forum before...
Had several MX5's and currently compete in Hill Climbs and Sprints in Mk2 RS - mainly at Gurston Down in the MX5 class.
I stumbled across this whilst looking for info on headskims as my engine is currently being rebuilt and was looking to get this done at the same time.

Avatar is now updated  and here's a link to my 39.88 PB at Gurston... Specs are; Mk2 RS Meister Club Race Coilovers ITG Maxogen Air Intake Nankang AR1's 4.65 Kia Sportage Diff Straight mid section and cobalt back box Plus safety bits. That's about it.. |

how do you find the cobalt? I repalced the tailpipe on mine in an effort to get it quieter (not used for hills yet but it was a little loud!)
I'm sorta looking for a Sportage diff for a possible build, although I might get sidetracked.......

It's certainly not quiet, normally around 90Db when tested, but I think the removal of the mid-section silencer has more of an impact on the overall sound.
The Sportage diff makes my car awful to drive on the road as it has a 6 speed box and I'm in 6th when doing 30 and trying to keep the noise down. Probably more bearable with the 5 speed as it's a longer final gear.. It works for Gurston and I was please I didn't run out of steam at a recent Rockingham sprint.

Mainly concentrated on the Bristol MX5 Challenge this year I did the school again, mainly cos its great fun and you get to drive the hill loads, I am thinking if doing a few Gurstons again in 2019 Didnt you win it? |

I did , it was a really good year and very close.. A couple of times Jason and I had the exact same time or just 100ths apart. Are you going to enter the championship?? |

Not sure what to do next year - still having a think but probably not i doubt I could do all the dates. I shall probably mix it up a bit more and do a bit of everything, I get bored quickly!!! |
