Saw this come up on an ad earlier - looks like a lot of fun www.fourpointchallenge.com/ twitter.com/FourPointChall Evil all-seeing google gives the quickest route as 42 hours and 2100ish miles, but then if a more direct route means smaller, wiggly roads, I think that time will increase... lol (I can't get googlemaps to give the shortest route??) The entry fee is £400+VAT (so £480) per driver, with a minimum of two drivers - I'm not sure if that seems quite a lot, given you are entirely responsible for all motoring and accommodation costs? But I guess they are hiring Snetterton for the two starting days, and will need to hire/fit/faff with the trackers, do all the admin before/during/after, and are giving £5k winners' money + £5k to charity... Thought I'd post it up anyway in case it's of interest to anyone - I'm quite tempted, I just need to find the money! Would be pretty epic in a 5, I would have thought

Sounds like a bad deal to participants, to me.

Sounds like a bad deal to participants, to me. Most of these things tend to be! Also, 2100 miles in my mx5 does not sound fun

I mean, the locations are great, but what is nice is to go there outside of race conditions and enjoy them, sleep well, etc. it's too much distance. You want something like this to be doable in 6-8 hrs because frankly, trying to win that competition as an individual will lead to you falling asleep at the wheel at the same time as trying to drive as fast as possible.

But it's not a time trial... ... it's a 'shortest distance driven' trial, so you can take all 12 days they've allowed if you want to, just as long as you're taking the shortest route you can find!
