Hi, I thought I'd stick a post up to say hello. I've owned a couple of MX-5s in the past and just when I thought I'd successfully kicked the habit I discovered autosolos ... so I'm now after another one for some RWD fun. I quite fancy a Mk2, having had a couple of Mk1s previously (an RS-Ltd and a 1.8 S-Special) but I would be open to either. It needs to be something structurally solid, perhaps with a few track-focused mods already in place, but due to the intended use I'm not looking for a cosmetically-mint show car. Please give me a shout if you know of any that might fit the bill! One thing I was wondering was how easy it would be to find a regular MX-5 and drop an LSD in? To that end, I've put another post in the tech section: mighty5s.com/thread/3074/easy-swap-open-diffI'm also trying to wrap my head around the rust situation on the Mk2s. The last time I looked was a few years ago and I was after a potential keeper to use on the road so I wanted a genuinely rust-free example. That seemed to more or less rule out the Mk2s even back then. My priorities are a bit different now, so I'm trying to learn the difference between an acceptable level of cosmetic rust and "run away" rust. Any guidance much appreciated. Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris,
Welcome.. I'd recommemd a Mk2 RS if you can get one. Slightly more power than a standard Mk2 of the same age and come with a 6 speed box and LSD so ideal for autosolos.
Cheers
Mark

Imports are more likey to have LSDs, too, and have less rust.
