I fear I already know the answer to this question, but having not driven the car for four months (for various reasons) the battery is so dead that the immobiliser LED doesn't even flash and the (admittedly bargain-price but reasonably well-specced) AutoXS charger is coming up saying 'Error' and 0.0V.
A quick search on the internet suggests that irreversible damage is done and a new battery is required...
So I guess I'm asking whether there are any recommended chargers that might resuscitate it from the dead like Frankenstein's monster, or whether it's just more sensible to get a new battery, given that it might be damaged and not be able to hold charge well?
As mentioned, I think I know the answer is the latter but thought I'd check!!

Probably irreversible.
Get a new battery - You may be able to get some more life out the old one with the help of the new battery.
Try try putting charger, new battery, old battery in series, or charger, old battery, new battery.
This tricks the charger, for the most part..

GSF have a Yuasa for £116.87 but that's £46.75 with the 60% off code: www.gsfcarparts.com/971na0360Halfords wanted £88 for this one, IIRC. CarParts4Less were, in this instance, better named as 'CarParts4More' ECP has some decent prices on the Bosch stuff mentioned earlier, though: www.eurocarparts.com/car-battery?UK_Reference_No=063S3 £97.99 - 50% code = £48.99 S4 £95.99 - 50% code = £47.99 I think I'll go for the S4 and be done with - free delivery as well, which saves faffing about picking it up!

So I changed my mind and decided to Click&Collect - and ECP actually rang me half hour later to confirm my order was ready to collect I feel like I've slipped into an alternative universe! lol

Thanks for the recommendations, chaps! So I changed my mind and decided to Click&Collect - and ECP actually rang me half hour later to confirm my order was ready to collect I feel like I've slipped into an alternative universe! lol Well, normal service has been resumed - got there this morning at 9am and was told they had none in stock because the delivery was missing them this morning... I did point out that it was in stock yesterday but that didn't seem to register! Good job I wasn't relying on picking it up at that exact time, eh...
