I've been thinking about gathering parts for FI on the 5 of late, especially after reading the "na-fi-bit-contentious-subject" thread. I've spotted this on Gumtree of all places, seems an ok price, it looks like it has the following bits: Chinese Turbo, Manifold, Downpipe, intercooler setup. Anyone able to identify if this is a homebrew or a kit of some sort? (apologies for the image size, it's a screenshot). Screenshot_20190813_130304_com.gumtree.android by Scott Reid, on Flickr Worth a punt if I can get it cheap enough? upgrade bits as I go? I think it's a T2 turbo, I've no idea if I could replace with a non Chinese turbo, second hand. Going by everything I've read I'll need: Injectors, ECU & tune, AFM...at a minimum. Any help appreciated, I was thinking supercharger, but going by the thread a good turbo setup is easier and just as good. Thanks.

Even if I can get it cheap enough with the intention of upgrading components at a later date? Problem is you typically need the mani and the downpipe built around a specific turbo type and orientation. I'd just get a kracken t25 jobby and then a cheap t25 turbo which you can replace with an bugwanna extra-fricking-race one later. If you buy a prarrie canoe mani and a prarrie canoe downpipe god knows what options you'll have other than the one the bodger made it for. Alternative is the G19 evo which is pretty good but the options of 'better and more spool than a td04-whatever' aren't as good as the t25/t28 type flanged turbos.

Hmm, all good advice, new prices are well outwith what I'm looking at for now. Perhaps should stick to the original plan: saving for a second-hand complete kit.
Thanks for the help muchachos!

there are only two kinds of turbo manifold worth having in your car.
1) cast (g19 evo2, kraken, flying miata) 2) cnc cuts with purge welds (gizfab, davefab, speclialist fab workers of similar renown)
that mani you linked us is a 'log mani', and I doubt it was particularly well made based on the onepicture, a great welder could do an amazing job on it but it still won't flow that well. a poor welder could make something that'll crack on every, single, stress, joint.
g19's older manis were a log design and g19 ARE a welding shop and... my old one had cracks for sure because the stress still got to it... and I'm really glad I switched to their cast one - it also gained me 40whp.

I really hope no-one sold that as a manufactured manifold.
Save your money and by something that will flow better and won't crack. It'll be worth every penny in the long run.

Thanks everyone, disaster averted, back to saving for a complete second hand kit, although that does open up the turbo/supercharger battle again.
