Decided to take a three day excursion round my local roads, relatively speaking. Never been to The Isle of Skye before, travesty, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Anyway here is the route, starting and finishing in my home town of Wick.

Nice!! I've been to Skye (not driving, booo) and the weather was stunning - I don't know why anyone would need to leave the UK when we have the weather! And even when we don't, it was a lot of fun up there in the snow on summer tyres on the wear markers... lol

Absolutely stunning scenery. Despite having been alive for ~30 yrs now, I've never been to Scotland! This has just about made up my mind now. I've been meaning to visit for years. Maybe I'll get 'round to it in Spring 2020...

Pictures look great, we added Skye to our NC500 as well, good choice. I'd of suggested skipping John'o'groats - Inverness as it's boring, we all agreed turning round at John'o'groats and repeating the west route again would be better. How was the traffic?
Keen for a Mighty5's NC500, NA/NB/NC/ND500?

Plus I am slightly biased as the NC500 route goes right past my front garden! Traffic was pretty good, especially quiet early doors i.e. before 10am, so a good time of year. Scotland also looks its best as autumnal colours set in etc.

never been to Scotland but those pics and the map make it look real interesting. Shame it would take a few days to just get there from Paris

It's only two days from Paris moclan ! I did part of the NC500 as part of my honeyhoon in 2017. It was epic. The shot with me (eyes glazed over) and the car is from the bit between Inverness and Ullapool. The A835 was my favourite bit of driving. trull.org/alex/media/pics/tourismo/Scotland/Honeyhoon2017-Gallery/North or West of Inverness you will barely find even 97, so pack some decent octane boosters if your car is mapped for anything above 95. I know it doesn't apply to you Rasc but for anyone else do skip out John O'Groats.. take the A9 south when you can ( If I did it again I'd try and find a route south after Tongue. Tongue was amazing though. One of the better photos is from that. ) Scotland is bloody amazing and beautiful and really a so on.. like a breath of fresh air after the flatness of southern england... and, well, words don't really cover it.

Some from me as well, hope you don't mind; Not at all, more the merrier. Maybe we should change the title to NC500(ish) 2019 and have an annual thread for this particular route.
