At last... I'm seeing progress! Just a few pics of the subframe to follow. What a bitch of a job. Wee nooks and crannies everywhere. Here is its revival in pictures! Into the Bilt Hamber deox bath ... which revealed that most of the paint had failed to keep its grip Leaving me with no option but to strip it to bare metal All stripped and ready for 1. POR15 Marine Clean and 2. POR15 Metal Ready And finally.... ta da!!

Looks good pal, but you don't miss the bike come on.... I miss my 954, but when I lost my brother in law (not bike related) it was a bit of a wake up call. Just to the mess you leave behind and the people, so bike went and the wife got her two seat sports car. What I always seem to be driving But I still miss the thinking of me biker bit

Well - nearly 4 years have passed. Progress? Afraid not... quite the opposite, so I'm here for some much needed motivation from the forum collective. They say "your health is your wealth". How true. My wife's been ill for quite some time now and the past 3 years in particular, has been a rough ride for her. Spare time for me, pretty much no longer exists. A free hour here and there is no longer spent in the garage. Its spent catching up on sleep from being up most nights. My mechanic "friend" had been kind enough to let me store the 5 in his garage - he's the local mechanic. I'd planned to get my a**e in gear and try to get the last jobs done and pay him to just bolt it all up for me. Get it home at least for July. So - the one thing I DIDN'T expect today, was a knock at the door from a friend - telling me to get up the road quick as my 5 was on a fork lift truck with the parts going in a skip. Upshot is that he's cleared out. Walked away from the garage with unpaid rent. The new proprietor decided to lift my car on the forklift and put it in the yard out back. A place that has had its fair share of vandalism and burnt out cars. OK... I'll go get it... except there's nothing attached from the gearbox back. Called to the garage to find that the new owner at least, is a mechanic. I know NOTHING about him, but have no choice but to pay him to bolt it all up so I can at least get the car home. So here's my sorry sight. I'm SO p***ed off tonight. I've a set of Meisters and Team Dynamics rims upstairs in the spare room - but am teetering on the edge of getting it rebuilt with stock bits and getting rid. Cheesed off is an understatement.

Wow, that’s prarrie canoe. Get it bolted up & enjoy the summer sun? Or move it on asap as it’s prime time to sell as soon as the holidays come.
I suppose if you sell the MeisterRs & Rims it’ll pay for the work.

He can get it running.... When it's home here, I'll finish up the cosmetics then and get driving again.

Wow, that's a story.
Sorry to hear about the wife. And what happened to your car is just salt in the wounds. But if you and your son still likes it, keep it and keep it driveable, have it as a thing for the two of you to enjoy. I really hope that my children will love my 5 the same.

Things are looking up....
I got bad vibes that the new guy isn't ACTUALLY a mechanic. He's a recovery guy and employs a mechanic to break cars! No. Not happening.
Time to stop. Get the job done right. The lads at MX5PartsNI now have the car. Its in safe hands... I'll be delivering my car full of parts next week for a paid rebuild. Meister's are going in... the Team Dynamics rims. Heck.. these guys powder coat too - so I'll be chatting over the project next week and will get it done right.
I've had enough time away from this wee car... its been 4 years.

Quick update - got a call from MX5PartsNI. The car is built up at the rear... on its new wheels... MeisterR's in .... and apparently is looking awesome!
Front end has been checked over. Chassis rails are solid - no corrosion (original owner had the car professionally waxoyl'd years ago). Everything topped up with Bilt Hamber wax.
Jass Performance chassis rails go in next - they're in the post. New Varta battery arrives Monday. Fluids all done. New filters in.
We're nearly back in action! A good friend has a detailing business and I'm booked in for a 2 stage paint correction and ceramic coating. Can't wait now!!!
One last thing I've to sort... the seats. They stank of mould from I owned the car. It must've got damp years ago. So.. I need a set of black heated seats. Thought about buckets... but my son loves those heated seats.

Heading down in the morning to see the finished job... but here's a sneaky preview that I got this evening. Blown away by how the car looks! SO glad I picked these wheels and the car is sitting perfect on the Meisters.
