I have the best 4x4 ever. Subaru Impreza WRX with extra horses.

My missus has a 2004 Honda CRV... its basically an overgrown road car rather than a proper 4x4 but over a couple of muddy fields recently I was glad to be in it rather than in the mx5!
Bought it because we wanted something a little bigger, and they are ultra reliable.

Yeah but it's no Landcruiser so y'kno. Sell up and get cruising If I was to cheat on it I'd have a GR60 Nissan Patrol over a Landcruiser

YEah tbf they're pretty mean looking I wouldn't mind one myself.
Oh yeah I'm supposed to tell you about my 4x4.
It's alright. Does offroading. Got stuck a few times and needed to get pulled out, other than that it's pretty capable. It's like a different type of car fun. No twisty B-Roads but I can go anywheeeeere. I do want a silly fast car here in Aus, but when travelling it makes sense to have a 4x4 cos a lot of places are 4x4 only so yer.

FJ40 is a fabulous piece of kit and gorgeous looking but I could never justify the cost! United Nations forces still use (GR) Y60s and they use them on many global offroad events to pull other 4x4s out when they get stuck All the bloody good ones from the UK have been exported to Saudi now though

Saw some serious Land Cruisers and Patrols in Straya. If had to sum up everything I have learned about 'Straya in one picture it would be this- Used for corralling angry water buffalo apparantly. I lost count of the number of absolutely ancient Toyotas we saw. I have been wanting to put a snorkel on something ever since I got back the other day. I could put a snorkel on the RAV4 (of which I also saw loads in Straya) but it might look a bit too fruity with the current wheels. I was thinking what about a snorkel on the mx5?! It's combination of cooler air from a higher altitude for cumbustilatiing and ability to negotiate the many flood of the shire could be a winning combination. Perhaps I could add pontoons on the sills and drive to Belper on the river. Get some ice creams and some of that nice bacon.

I should add that cars I've previously owned includes a slightly rusty, metallic brown, B reg Maestro 1.3. Hope that helps to put my previous comment into perspective Me too! Had a bale of hay in the boot, and a bowl of cornflakes and a cup of coffee in the glove box when I collected it from the previous owner :-)

Had a bale of hay in the boot, and a bowl of cornflakes and a cup of coffee in the glove box when I collected it from the previous owner :-) The price of mine doubled when we went to collect it as it had £50 of tax left on it. I did love it in a strange way. Plenty of space inside for 'activites' even n the driver's seat believe it or not

The front prop is off, and I'm driving around in Locked diff mode. It's pretty slow-ish as it splits torque 50/50 between axle, so I've essentially lost half my power I guess. Still goes, but it's lost it's mid-range grunt when you're al full throttle . I cba to really rush getting it fixed as it'll be alright driving around like this for now, so when I have some free time, I'll take a trip to the wreckers to rip one off. Hopefully it won't be as much of a royal pain in the ass as my Prado - The garage had to use a big Canoe off crowbar, and a smash stick to get it to budge of the captive nuts on the front diff flange -_-

Cool, game over. Complete Lower Control Arm failure, ripped pretty much everything out of everything.
$1000+ repair bill, and haven't really got a choice in the matter HA.
