Its s design flaw in the balljoints on the Prado and other 4X4's that share the same chassis. Hilux Surf's, Toyota Tacoma's etc...
There's been cases where people have had them fail on the freeways with catastrophic consequences.
They were recalled, but they re-designed component was exactly the same but with an extra dust boot - Which my Prado had done -_-
A family got wiped out in the Northern Territories because of it.
I inspected them a week ago to make sure they were fine, and found about 1mm play in the passenger side LBJ, so I booked it in to get both sides replaced.
Went to pick up some stuff from my old apartment and suddenly, loud bang, my side of the car dropped and my thought process was "Okay, so, this is happening!"
I now have a DC Shoe shaped dent in the fender, and a $1100 bill to get all the damaged components replaced.
Silver linings though, now that it's gonna have a reconditioned front end (essentially), I should be able to sell it for some decent cash to help fund my trip to Japan and move out of Melbourne, because I Canoeing hate it. It's been a horrible experience but that's another story ahaha.
Moral of the story - Don't buy a 95 Series Landcruiser / Prado. They're genuinely dangerous. It's nt like it's a lack of maintenance thingy either, it's the way the LCA, and LBJ's are designed. They're essentially upside down, so they can go at any time.
Which is why I was Canoeing stumped that the side that had no play, was the side that didn't give way. Beats me. I'm not a mechanic so if anyone can shed some light on this, then please feel free! The side that gave way, the dust boots weren't perished, and they had plenty of grease. So, Canoe knows.

Waiting more updates, esp re: move to japan. Gotta see our finances after we sell the front canoe. Hopefully I'll get what I want for it, which will put us in a better position.

Gearbox failure on my Range Rover. At the same time I'm leaving my job. Sense of humour at breaking point. I know them feels. Small things going wrong is annoying, but when it's a big thing like that, then it's just a proper bummer. Is it completely borked?

Nearly stranded me in a traffic jam two weeks ago so have just parked it up until I can afford to get it looked at. Too many places round here I don't want to get stuck (Especially in the dark or fog at this time of year).
