Got rid of the cheap short shifter in my MK1 a while back and managed to loose the original bolts. So the ones I have now are to long and need the chunky metal spacer. I have a new shift boot to go on and it won't go over the metal spacer. Does anyone have the original bolts that hold the shifter in place? w

I'd take the too-long bolts down to wicks or b&q or screwfix and get shorter ones :-) maybe measure the depth where the head stops and the threads aren't in.. and work out out with that.
I understand the bolts are flanged but that's no pratical difference from an off the shelf bolt and a washer, imo.

All sorted if anyone hasn't hurd of them got some of the right bolts and a few extra goodies from Autolink mx5. Pretty much had everything for MK1 2 and 3!
